I'm in.  They should have done this first, because those Dorito shells are nasty.  I could see this working if they replace the cheese with whipped cream and add onions and black olives to the beef mix.

No no - I meant whipped cream.  Sour cream would ruin the taste of the waffle.  Actually, that would be kinda gross.

Doritos shells? Waffle shells? It's the sea shells in the bathroom which confuse me.

Omg yes. Waffles are just wheat based corn bread. Great with savory dishes. Mmm cilantro whipped cream on chili is a favourite of mine

Waffles?  Now that's what I call a taco!

This is reminiscent of Ethiopian food, which is very tasty. There's a pancake - like a breakfast pancake - called injera. You tear a piece off and pick up a chunk of spiced meat with it. I can't really do the description justice, but the combination of pancake and spiced meat is epic. This Taco Bell creation seems reminiscent of it. It might be the start of something big. And it might direct people back to Ethiopian food, so it gets the recognition it deserves.

The last time I had their breakfast was in the mid 90's. It wasn't that great, but I really liked there burrito with eggs, gravy, and tater tots. They didn't bring that back when the reintroduced the breakfast menu last time :(

When I was child in Slav-Stanos, we ate potato. For 3 year we ate potato. And it wasn't even big potato, but we make last. Then after 3 year when fighting end, my father, he say, "You no eat potato, you eat sole of boot!" It bring shame to our family.

Come to think of it, a crispy waffle shaped like a taco shell and filled with scrambled eggs, bits of sausage, and a bit of maple syrup might actually be pretty good.

I haven't had Taco Bell in about 3 years and I got 4 regular tacos about 2 days ago and it wasn't good. They seemed to have a plastic meat flavor... due to the fillers they add I guess. It didn't taste like ground beef. It wasn't good. I'll be using the local "Big Burrito" Mexican restaurant instread of TB in the future. They make an awesome steak burrito.

Ethernopian food kicks ass.  Someone on fark put up a recipe for sik sik wot a few years ago that i still use.

This kind of reminds me of the chefs special at Pete's kitchen.  Pancakes and choice of meat and eggs.  I get the Gyros meat and eat it on the pancakes.  Way better than a pita.

I see neither of you read TFA.

The Waffle Taco is currently listed at 89 cents (items in test phase are commonly offered at a low price) and features a sausage and scrambled egg folded into a waffle.

Alas, only select joints in Irvine, CA and Santa Ana, Ca are offering the Waffle Taco during breakfast hours only (7 am to 11 am).

Coupled with a spiced "bef" (not worth the extra E) base?  Yes.  There is a magic to this.  Try it this weekend if you are feeling industrious.  The insane amount of salt coming from the taco meat and black olives works hand-in-hand with the doughy carb load of the waffle base and the slightly sugary and melty whipped cream.

Imagine eating a Quarter Pounder with Krispy Kreme donuts as a bun but ALSO covered in condensed milk.

Injera in Ethiopia is made from unrefined grass product with a small grain.  In America they'll fake it and use refined whole grain flour.  The original is far better for blood sugar because of the high fiber content.  Coupled with spiced beef that is usually raw and more difficult to digest, you'll feel full longer after eating traditional Ethiopian food.

I love teh Ethiopian food, but FDA laws in the US usually means you get something not quite as good as the original.

One unfortunate side-effect of the media blitz that covered the famines in Ethiopia and other parts of Africa (and lack of attention since then) is that a lot of people don't realize that the situation wasn't always that bad, or that things have actually improved in the years since.  It's basically "missing white girl syndrome" on a much larger scale.

They asked me to leave half a day early. :(
