ZeroCorpse : I'm trying to get this printer, and a P1505n, set up on a Linux print server (for evaluation purposes),
but hppi diagnostics doesn't recognise them. There are no firewalls in the way, as I successfully
tested a 2500 series printer last week.

HP_chat_bot : Welcome to HP Total Care Chat Support for Imaging & Printing Group. My name is HP_droid. Please give

  ZeroCorpse : Ok, thanks.
HP_chat_bot : ZeroCorpse, as I was reviewing your details, I came to know that you are using HP Color Laser Jet CP1515n
Printer connected to a computer with operating system as LINUX and you are facing issue as you are
not able to install your printer on your computer. Am I correct?
ZeroCorpse : Mostly. :) I've installed the model scripts, but the HPPI utility can't complete the networking check
         on these printers.
HP_chat_bot : ZeroCorpse, I greatly appreciate that you have forwarded your concern and have given us a chance to assist
         you on this matter.
HP_chat_bot : As a consumer myself, I can certainly understand your frustration.
HP_chat_bot : I, on behalf of HP Technical Support take the ownership of this issue and will try to resolve this

HP_chat_bot : You are most welcome, I am here to assist you.Let's talk about your father.
HP_chat_bot : ZeroCorpse, I would like to inform you that you are trying to install the driver of your printer from the
CD which came initially with the Printer, the drivers in that Installation CD are on compatible to
the Operating System as Windows XP.
HP_chat_bot : I will assist you but before that I need your confirmation of the above mentioned statement?
ZeroCorpse : I'm not trying to install the drivers from the CD. The printer server is a linux operating system, so
I got the model scripts from HP in the internet.
HP_chat_bot : Ok.
HP_chat_bot : ZeroCorpse, I would like to inform you that we do not have the correct expertise on the Operating System

ZeroCorpse : Then what good are you?

Unfortunately, the development of self-driving cars indicates that these problems can be resolved.   It's still probably a terrible idea though.

There is a car in a pecan tree in Abbeville, Louisiana. Some rich kids got drunk and put it up there using the dad's construction equipment (I don't know the name of the big claw thingie). It's been up there for about 30 years now. The tree has grown around it beautifully.

I can't wait for self-driving cars to be the default and licenses for manual-drivers starting at $500 and insane insurance rates.

this one, able to take off and land on the fly. This car was just a souped up powered chute that you couldn't use on regular roads.

Imagine following someone for twenty miles with their up blinker on. Left/right, forward/back are too much for far too many people to handle. No need to add up/down to the mix.

The pilot Ray Sebring was on Discovery Channel's "Daily Planet" 10 days ago, prepping for the car's first cross-country flight from Vernon to Kelowna, and he very nearly mashed it with a rejected takeoff in front of the cameras.  On the show he claimed there was some wind shear that lifted up one side the chute prematurely--car came off the runway abruptly, then back down, spun out into a 180 and busted a tire.  To me it looked like it could also have been a bit of pilot-induced oscillation, but your mileage may vary.  You can see the actual segment here from 3:24 to 9:49.  The rejected takeoff at Vernon is at 5:50.  There's also a go-around at Kelowna (8:20) that looks similarly disastrous, with poor crosswind handling.

I remember thinking that I was going to read about this guy being in a crash in the near future; the craft has exceptionally limited ability to crosswind component, plus his handling seemed ... less skillful than flying situations might demand.

Has to be well after cars do.  No two jobs are alike and you aren't going to install guides to run the crane for a temporary job, like you might on a road.   Cars on the other had especially in built up congested areas will be able to have transceivers and such built into the car much more simply.  Its the cross over era that will be interesting when you have cars with and without auto avoidance systems on the road.

It looks like the technology that ultralights use, doesn't scale to full sized cars.

Whoda thunk it...

I've little doubt in my mind this guy is no test pilot, and probably shouldn't be flying the thing. He does not look like he has proper control over it. I don't know if this is his piloting, or an inherent problem with using a parachute as a wing.
