Worst state possible.

There's no way I could just roll up with a grill and a keg and turn this in to a party without getting arrested.

Old Bay tastes like it's "been scraped from the rust around bathroom pipes, then mixed with dandruff harvested from corpses". So sayeth the National Post, and I agree.

I like my seafood to taste like seafood, not celery salt and regret.

Reside here and resent that fact. Got my six pack of Poligamy Porter in hand, looking for the portable grill.

The ONLY way to eat crabs is to steam them with copious amounts of Old Bay. Boiling? Zatarans? Tony's? Get the fark out.

/I have huge arguments with my friends from NOLA about this. I have never lost this argument because I'm a stubborn asshole.

75000 lbs of crab? REALLY?

Lets do some maths: Crab- 75000 + truck/trailer tare weight- approx 34000. Hmmm WTF!! That's 109000 lbs. Either someone is in deep crab shiat or there's some shiatty editing going on here cause maximum weight is 80000lbs.

I'm sure this will be the Boobies about this, but Cleveland had a hot dog semi overturn this morning. Mrs. SG had to take a detour to work.

Old bay sucks

You can make a better, more subtle mix.
Old bay is like taking a dump on it.

You want to taste the meat.

Old bay is like the A-1 of crab and shrimp.
It's kryptonite  to even the best cooked dishes.

Marylander here. Old Bay kicks ass. I guess it's the area you grow up in.

I have never understood why anyone would put anything on crab meat.  King crab is the bestest stuff on earth, don't want anything interfering with it.

I give crabs about 8 years to extinction mankind generated... mostly. All species excepting  the variety that thrive in my pubic region.

Old Bay is for blue crabs.  I don't see anybody steaming king crab with it.  I think you've stumbled on a West Coast-East Coast thing, fo-shizzle.

Yes.  Always.

CSB:
One day I was in Bermuda walking up the street to get some dinner.  I see these people with buckets and sticks poking around in a stone fence a few yards from the street.  They were pulling out these red crabs about the size of a blue claw.  I would love to live in a place where I could just walk out back, gather up some crab, an there's dinner!

I'm from northern VA so I also grew up with Old Bay. I'm not a big fan of blue crab because although the meat is delicious with Old Bay and butter, it's simply not worth the effort to tear those little buggers apart. Too much work with too little reward. I will occasionally do so if friends want to go to some right-on-the-bay place. The atmosphere is always fun at those places and the crab and beer are cheap.

I prefer snow crab legs with butter and maybe a little lemon. King crab legs can be good, but frequently they are so large they don't cook properly, or were simply too tough to begin with because of the size of the crab.

Summary: Old Bay is awesome for blue crab, but stick to butter and lemon (and beer) for snow or king.

LIAR!! CRABS STILL AT WORK!

This is deserving of the Sad tag - esp. if they were MD blue crabs.

As for Old Bay - I am firmly in the Old Bay camp. I spent every summer and most
weekends at my grandparents' place on the Wicomico River during my kid and
teen years. The smell of Old Bay is forever linked to some of my best childhood
memories.

What can't it do? Crab boil, shrimp boil, as a seasoning on fish or chicken AND it
is great for taking the sting out of jellyfish stings too.

I made swordfish for the first time ever about a month ago. I just made a simple rub
out of Old Bay, garlic, fresh ground pepper, and sea salt. I heated the cast iron
skillet in the oven then dropped the swordfish in and popped everything back in the
oven for 3 - 4 minutes per side.

Mmmmm good.
