(The Hill)   Romney scrapped Benghazi ad in final weeks of campaign. And, as a result will be free to see 'The Great Gatsby' this afternoon and probably 'Iron Man 3' tomorrow. Really looking forward to new Star Trek   (thehill.com) divider line 217

According to the source with knowledge of the ad's creation, the Romney campaign stopped it from airing for fear that it would shift the focus away from the economy.

Well that and the only people who would have been swayed by that ad are the far right derpers who were already in the bag.

2013-05-10 02:34:04 PM
How is it that he noticed that Benghazi isn't a winning issue, when the rest of Fox news is still convinced it is?

Is Milhouse Benghazi a meme scandal yet?

Not playing a Benghazi ad had little, if anything, to do with Romney not winning the election.

2013-05-10 03:07:05 PM
And if only he'd aired it, surely Americans would have forgotten all about the 47% comments, the makers vs. takers rhetoric, the naked greed, the offshoring and collapse of the companies he acquired, the unreleased tax forms, the hypocritical opposition of Obamacare vs. Masscare, the Olympic dancing horse, the insult-America's-allies foreign policy, the binders full of women, the fake canned good drive for Hurricane Sandy (against the Red Cross's express wishes), the grandstanding $10,000 bet during primaries, the "you people look so stylish in your plastic ponchos", the "we were so poor in college we almost had to sell some of our shares" hard luck story, the "we've told you everything you people need to know" wife, the insulting of homemade cookies on the campaign trail, the support for Akin and his ilk, the fronting for an incredibly hateful party of loons and douchebags, the missing son Bapp, and the fact that he didn't know what a doughnut is.

Two? We're only getting two today?

Yesterday we had six.

THAT was a Benghazi day.

The wife covered it the most effectively. Something along the lines of 'because fark you, that's why'.

Ask Fox News. They're convinced that it there's a scandal in there somewhere.

2013-05-10 04:21:52 PM
it's not like it would have really changed the election anyway. The electoral college would never have voted in a majority for Romney, because just like McCain, neither met the natural born citizen requirement of the Constitution.

The conspiracy site, foxnews.com, was reporting heavily on their conspiracies during that whole time period but they were and continue to be the only ones really pushing it.  I don't think the ad would have done much to sway anyone that wasn't already brain damaged by right wing media.

Yeah, seriously.  If even ROMNEY is outdoing you on political acumen, maybe you need to reconsider the minimum qualification requirements for applicants to your station's analyst positions.

this is probably exactly what would have happened. some journalist would have "cleverly" dubbed it smirkgate and mitt would spend an entire news cycle trying to either deny he was smirking or trying to convince us that he had just remember a really funny thing that paul ryan said the other day.

It's because he was a bad candidate.  He's the reason we lost.  There is no way that the voters rejected the principles of modern conservatism, as they are self-evidently superior to liberalism, but Romney flubbed the message.  Too wishy-washy.  Too afraid to offend.  Well too bad.  We' re engaging in spiritual warfare against the powers of darkness, with the existence of America at stake.

And that is why the GOP cannot afford to rest our hopes on appealing to moderates. We need a real conservative, who will fire up the base, and will not be ashamed to proudly proclaim conservatism, from sea to shining sea.
