Wow, I did not see the Ottoman Empire Turkey getting involved in this at all.

Well, it is almost 2014.  Nothing like a 100 year old anniversary to kick off another war.

Well done. *golf clap*

Turkey will support a US-enforced no-fly zone in Syria, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has told a US television station.

What. Turkey doesn't have a military of its own? I thought they had a farily decent one equipped with some nice American weapons. Last I checked Syria was next door to them... so the whole thing going on there seems to be more of a problem for Turkey than for America. You don't see America volunteering Turkey to secure its border with Mexico. I'm not saying we shouldn't help them... but man up, pussies. Take the lead.

What the US has that almost nobody else does, and certainly nobody else can match is our AWACS aircraft and command/control assets to run a theater battlespace.  Just like in Libya, we monitored the skies while the other countries did the gopher work and got dirty.  But even if we don't fire a shot, the information that we can provide can focus and protect the alllies we choose.

Wait, so someone catch me up here. I thought i heard on Monday or so that a UN source said that the rebels may have been the ones to use the chemical weapons? Is anyone actually sure that A) chemical weapons were used B) who used them?

And is Turkey just rubbing their hands with anticipation to expand their regional power?

Lots of people have that capability. Or enough of one for Syria. If Turkey is so concerned they could ask Saudi Arabia to have one of the E-3As help out. Or one of Egypt's E-2s.

shiat, even Mexico has E-2s.

We have been for a long time. The powers in the area arent scared of israel they just hate them. Turkey scares them. They have the weapons and the manpower and US backing.

Oh, turkeys can fly all right, just not much more than, say, five feet or so off the ground. One time my dad was driving down the Taconic State Parkway when a flock tried to cross. One didn't clear the car and ended up wrapped around the side mirror, head flopping against the window.
