FTFA:

"The tension was rooted in several bills touching on topics of importance to conservatives. One would ban sharia law, or Islamic strictures, from the state of Missouri. Another would nullify federal gun control laws within the state. The third would ban implementation of Agenda 21, a United Nations plan for sustainable development that some fear intrudes on private property rights."

Between this shiat and their newest tax cut plan (which shorts the state nearly $1B over ten years), they really are in a race to the bottom with Brownbackistan.

You know ordinarily I'd condemn this kind of behavior in the political field, but the tinfoil hat and black helicopter really did highlight just how completely stupid these bills are.  It's the worst kind of paranoid, hillbilly politics and these nitwits are getting cheered all the way.

in this case not so much

Democratic state Rep. Michael Frame was reprimanded by GOP Speaker Tim Jones for wearing a tinfoil hat, as a sartorial comment on the nature of the legislation before the House. This led to a brief debate about whether a cravat is appropriate attire.

That's because crazy people believe that they are perfectly and inarguably sane.  And the crazier they are, the more convinced they are of their sanity.

Naw, its like that alien show, "V". They've just been dressed up as "fiscally conservative", flag-waving, American Firsters. But having a black guy in office had their skin peeling back and it allowed the reptilian scales to show. Now, they're just snake people who walk around in plain sight.

Meh. Money isn't handed out for intelligence. It's invested in those who will make more money. Those college coaches bring a lot of money into the schools. Unless a university president is so sought after that the best and brightest students will follow him to enroll in whatever university he runs, there's not much justification for paying them millions of dollars.

"I was thinking about Harvard, but Simon Winchester Phillips IV is the new President of Boise State. Every chemical engineer that goes to one of his schools is a success. Pack my bags, Ma. I'm going to potato country!"

True, it's not like the primary mission of a University is education. Public universities exist to fulfill the vital public need for basketball and football minor leagues.

Angry people bring their military-style guns (in the US, it's mostly ARs, that pic was more AKs) to protests?

// also, Sharia requires people to give charity - do we really want to forbid that?

Of course the conservatives these topics are important to do support Biblical based laws which mirror sharia law, claim to be strict constitutionalists while supporting an unconstitutional law regarding federal gun laws, and supports the Keystone pipeline which is using eminent domain in a legally questionable manner to intrude on people's property rights.

At the UW the football program breaks just under even if you take all related expenses into account. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case for other Universities.

We have some of the dumbest mutherfarkers that ever drew breath as elected officials here in old Missouri.  I am in a state of utter dispair.  Maybe I'll live long enough to see the pendulum swing the other way.  Nah, I'll be praying for the quick end of my misery and the sweet release of death.  I notice the rest of the USA and world are similarly afflicted.  History tells me it has always been this way but it surely feels like end times.  It's Friday and about 10:30 a.m.  I've got a very large bottle of Jameson's and a patio with a rocking chair.  Time to start the weekend.  I'm a peaceful man but if one of the GOP douches comes by and bothers me, I'll probably hit him/her with a brick.  And put his body in the Missouri River so he can float by the Capitol building where they will count his rigor mortis salute as a "yes" vote for yet another anti-abortion/pro-gun bill/creationist.

That's the university as a whole, not so much for the athletic department.  If they're turning a profit who cares if the head coach is getting 10% of that; w/o them the school wouldn't get anything.  Its one thing to biatch about a school paying big bucks for a coach if the athletic department is in the red, its just petty whining if the school is raking in cash however.
