Dicks will be Dicks.... and that guy... he's a Dick

2013-05-10 09:18:37 AM
They should be under fire for having the skeeviest CEO this side of that Charney d-bag who runs American Apparel.

2013-05-10 09:18:50 AM
Who cares?

2013-05-10 09:19:16 AM
Let's see a CEO who insists on the flight attendants on the corporate jet be male models, and specifies they wear A&F branded jeans, polos, flip flops and boxer briefs is apparently a self-absorbed douche, what a surprise.

2013-05-10 09:19:45 AM
Looks like he made the douchey remarks almost 7 years ago. Why the stink about them now?

It's hard to say which one is skeevier

He's allowed to be a douche, and we're allowed to not shop there.  It's pretty simple.

Didn't we have this story already?

WAIT .... Will they still hand out little bottles of booze?

Not that I like the guy, but ... how come everybody says obesity is a problem but we all have to respect it in individuals?

If you wear those clothes, you're a douchebag.

So the guy wants to make a specific customer, choice is his, good

/he wants to be an asshole, even better

Fatties can wear skinny jeans; there's nothing stopping them.

2013-05-10 09:21:46 AM
Isn't this one of the companies that gets away with appearance-based descrimination by hiring all their store employees as "models"?

stop being fat, fattie

I'm pretty sure he's not interested in them handing out bottles of booze, though what he is interested does involve hands....

But where will fat people get torn jeans for $90?

2013-05-10 09:22:48 AM
That's consumerism run amok, you got people trying to petition a company  to make clothes for them...I think this is how they run a boycott in the bizarro world...

Something like that.

Because, they have a petition! online! with almost *GASP* 2000 signatures!

If a clothing company doesn't make clothes in your size, buy from a different company.  If they want your money, they'll make clothes for your size.

Or you know, you could get in shape.

Stop paying $45 for a t shirt with his advertising on it and he'll go away.

Yeah, it was in the business tab a couple of days ago so nobody saw it.

Wow, that's a sad and ugly statement for a company to make and if that quote is real, that CEO is not very intelligent for making it public in such a blunt fashion. I dislike their mission statement and discriminatory practices, but they have freedom and every right in the world to do it. I would like to see a boycott of this company, but I find it is unlikely to succeed since young girls and boys are their target demographic and they are extremely fickle and shallow. Of course they will buy into this clothing line because its "cool" and they want everyone to see that brand name on their chest at school. I wish it wasn't a part of the world we live in, but bullies will be bullies despite ones clothing choices. Grow up people, and move on.

here is the problem:

tact /takt/ Noun 1. Adroitness and sensitivity in dealing with others or with difficult issues.
Synonyms: delicacy - finesse

Normal human beings use tact. Dicks have none.

/I sound fat, &/or concerned right?

Yes there is, it is called physics.

I'm more appalled that they list size triple zero on their website. Time for me to squeeze my fat ass into a medium and go shopping at AF

Apart from physics

It doesn't matter how they write about you, as long as they spell your name right.

FTA:  Are we exclusionary? Absolutely. Those companies that are in trouble are trying to target everybody: young, old, fat, skinny. But then you become totally vanilla. You don't alienate anybody, but you don't excite anybody, either.

Well, he makes a good point.  He's an asshat but seems to be the man for the job at a company like that.

2013-05-10 09:25:45 AM
So should skinny people be outraged about all the "Plus Size" clothing stores? I guess it's okay for fatties to have their own stores but not okay for anyone else.

2013-05-10 09:26:16 AM
Some maybe too big for your clothes, but at least they didn't do this to rheir own face:

Yes, because the way to get cool kids to like you is to throw a big enough fit that the cool kid store will let you come in and buy a fat version of cool kid clothes. That *always* works.

We need to stop pretending being fat is okay. It is not. It is not healthy, not attractive, and is 100% a choice.

If a guy is on welfare, we tell him to get a job. If a chick is fat, no reason not to tell them to lose some weight. All a chick has to do, in her entire life, to be successful, is look hot.

Because you cannot possibly be above a size 10-12 and in shape...

Wait a minute, why is there even outrage right now?  I thought A&F stopped being cool 10 years ago?  Wasn't A&F, GAP, and Old Navy the clothing stores of choice for 90s teens?  Someone needs to tell kids these days that we used to wear that stuff all the time.  Then it'll stop being cool!
