Well, as long as they shut down every single store in the state that carries silly string, arresting every employee that sold the stuff, then categories the stuff as a weapon... yeah, it all seems legit.

Shouldn't Walmart require a background check for Silly String ?
I mean really, how responsible is it to sell this kind of weapon to teenagers?

It was the pantyhose on his head that really got him arrested.  They thought he was a confused cross dresser.

That's when Melvin sprayed Silly String at the employee, apparently causing him to be in fear for his safety and for the safety of the students

Well, that's it, we're done. The great experiment has failed. We have become a nation of pants shiatting losers that curl into a ball and cry when faced with a can of silly string.

This is why we should pass legislation to ban all cans of silly string of 16 ounces or more. Who needs that much silly string? What are you going to prank with that much? It's not a tool, despite what silly string-nuts keep saying. It's designed to prank people and animals. Besides, statistics show that people who keep silly string in the house are more likely to use it on a family member than on an intruder! There was a case around here not long ago where the police were called because of a domestic disturbance, and when they got there they found the husband sprawled across the kitchen floor with 32 ounces of silly string on his head, chest, and even his groin! It was a horrific mess. His wife was questioned, and they found out that in the heat of the moment she just snapped and grabbed the two 16 ounce cans of silly string her husband kept in the home for protection and gave him both barrels.

If we don't do something soon, this will be an epidemic. Why are Americans so crazy about silly string? We need to do something soon! Now kids are bringing silly string to school! When will it end? How long before the next attack?

It's funny how people see someone opposed to bullying and instantly assume they were bullied.

I was in your position. I defended my friends from the preppy jock assholes. I was only bullied a few times in elementary school. By middle school, people knew better than to try it with me.

Hey, someone had to do it. I figured a gun-disliking liberal like myself should just get it over with. I'm sure I did it better than any of the gun nuts would have.

Well now I feel bad about picking on your other post. Yes, bullies suck. This guy just screams dumb entitled bully and his mother sounds like a bully enabler. F*ck both of them.

His biggest mistake though was the pantyhose. I doubt anyone would have cared if he hadn't hidden his face. That was just stupid.

Kids have been doing this crap for as long as there have been kids...
but now we live in a completely pussified nation of fear-addicted weak minded douchebags who are AFRAID OF SILLY STRING!!!!
Everyone, from the school 'authorities', to the cops, to the "judge" should be removed from having ANY authority or public influence at all.
They should be publicly shamed and ridiculed for showing such a pure lack of judgement and sensibility.

Don't feel bad. We all knew that joke was coming. A few half-hearted attempts beat mine because I was lovingly crafting something more complete. Now it's over with, and we can await the flood of bad versions of the same gag.

And yes, generally speaking, any time you go out in public with pantyhose over your head and face, it's the kind of thing that people would generally call "a bad idea."

I bet while he was playing his prank, the "Mission Impossible" theme was playing in his head and he was thinking "This is AWESOME!"

2013-05-10 11:31:52 AM
Spraying it in the person's face at close range means that you're spraying a fluorocarbon solvent, capable of causing frostbite, and also a minor skin irritant, directly into a person's eyes and mouth.  At the time it happened, they weren't sure what effect close-range attacks might have on folks.

The assumption is that it could have been a problem for some of the people, and it's probably not a good idea to spray stuff directly into peoples faces unless you intend to cause them harm.  It makes sense that they were at least arrested, until further details could be looked at more closely and evaluated.

The charges haven't actually been filed yet, and it's likely they won't be, so no harm, no foul,  though I should mention that there's actually silly string bans within other parts of the US.
