For more than 50 years as a spiritual psychic and guide, when called upon to either help authorities with missing person cases or to help families with questions about their loved ones, I have been more right than wrong

I could "predict" everyone missing for over a week was dead too, and i would be more right than wrong as well. That doesn't make me psychic.

We had a charity fair when I was in college and I put up a tent and did Tarot card readings.  Some "witch" (I don't think we called them Wiccans yet) from rival fraternity, also doing readings, raised a  huge stink because I was fake.

In before the usual crowd of tards shows up to blather about how their Aunt actually is psychic, or how this one time they dropped a bag of water softener salt on their foot and at the very same moment, 1000 miles away their sister farted, or their cousin had premonitions of being run over and then one day blahblahblah blah blah.

Anybody ever win Randi's $1M? No? Then there ain't no such farkin' thing as psychic powers!!

Browne has estimated an 87-to-90 percent success rate with cold cases, but Skeptical Inquirer did she made on "The Montel Williams Show" and put her success rate at zero.

I don't know, that's actually kind of impressive. You'd think she'd had lucked into at least one.

Listen Subby, I am sick of people like you beating your drum on this issue without due care. People are hurting and being hurt and I really think that next time you think of posting a link like this one, you should make sure that you mention that psychics are all fake. Seriously, I am not sure if you are aware of it, but look it up! They are all fake and there is no such thing as a psychic.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that D.J. Grothe would be OK with psychics if they said their predictions were "for entertainment purposes" only. Grothe stresses that they shouldn't offer spiritual or psychic advice either.

LOL. Psychics: good for absolutely nothing.

Also worth noting that a lot of your evangelical Christians could fall into this camp. Sure, they call themselves "prophets" instead of psychics and their predictions are "prophecies", but it's the same fake bullshiat. And they often believe it themselves.

And lets not forget the "Prophets" who have invaded Evangelical churches over the last fifty years. Folks who would never think of ever going to someone like Sylvia Browne don't think twice about going to see self proclaimed "prophet." Despite the Biblical standard being 100% accuracy these guys go blithely on using the SAME cold reading tactics as psychics but wrapping it up in churchy lingo and rationalization. No wonder our churches produce so many dullards.

Sylvia Browne has a son who also claims he is a psychic.  They make millions of dollars off lonely sad people who believe in everything they say.

It's just plain sad to look at the message boards and quotes.

In 2012, She told me about my pastlives with my best friend Lynn.
She said we had an array of them together but in this life we were Cousins raised together. Which is 100% accurate. How she knew that without telling her she was my blood relative cousin, is amazing.
Also, she asked me what was wrong with my right leg. I have a problem with my right leg and its interesting to see how quickly she addressed it. I was amazed.
SYLVIA BROWNE IS A REAL TRUE SPIRITUAL TEACHER AND PSYCHIC

Love you sylvia

Hi. Yeah, normally I avoid these threads because they blow up, and I figure it just annoys everyone, but sure, why not.

Tell me, do you typically believe insurance is a scam? Why not? I can show you proof--PROOF!--that multiple insurance salesmen are scammers. So insurance is a scam, and if you believe in insurance, you should feel bad.

Yeah, but here's the thing: Insurance actually exists. I can prove it. Nobody has ever demonstrated psychic powers. Not once EVER in a double-blind experiment have they ever been shown to exist.

Put another way, it's easy to find insurance salesmen who aren't scammers. It's impossible to find a psychic who has actual powers.

See the difference?

...I really ought to put this stuff on my profile or something and just redirect people to it. Okay, let's do this  again.

First: Let's define the term 'psychic'. It does  NOT mean 'person who tells the future with 100% accuracy'. The  ONLY PEOPLE who claim psychics are 100% accurate are  skeptics. Psychics have a wide range of abilities that do  not violate the known laws of the universe, but  are something we don't quite understand yet. Usually it takes the form of higher-than-average results in a typical human skill, like empathy (psychic empathy is like an inverse Asperger's) or your 'sixth sense' (ESP is the technical term for psychic 'sixth sense').

Now, as far as double-blind studies go, this link will take you to what's called a meta-study. (It's in Italian; use Chrome's translator tool.) A meta-study is when some poor shmuck, usually a college grad student trying to work out a thesis, goes and looks at a fark-ton of double-blind studies and sums up the result. They found that, yes, ESP exists. The University College London and University of Granada both linked aura-reading and aura-healing to synthesia, which is a disorder that basically makes your brain spout out pretty colors at a trigger.

So yeah. We've proven that some forms of psi exist, in double-blind studies published by well-known authors. Now, as far as talents that deal with the future, like visions and such...well, we don't know anything about it besides that it's probably genetic. But yes, there are many forms of psi that exist, and certainly there are people who have visions that come true at a surprising rate.

Now, does this make TFA's psychic real? Nope. Most high profile 'psychics' are just scammers who, naturally, looked at a field where absolutely farking no one checks your credentials and got dollar signs in their eyes. But it does mean that it's a good idea to recognize that scammers are having an easy time in the psychic field because of cultural reasons, not scientific.

The only people who claim psychics have 'magic powers' are skeptics and scammers.  Actual psychics just have abilities that are slightly weird, but usually mimic some typical ability. Psychic empathy, for example? When psychics see pretty colors when people feel emotions? That's basically reverse Asperger's with some synthesia thrown in for fun.

/And go look at the links I just posted. There's a hell of a lot of evidence that some people just have weird skills, too.
