How can they continue it? Bauer killed dozens of diplomats in his blood lust revenge. There's no way they can sweep that under the rug. I am stoked though damnit,

It really should have been a miniseries in the first place.

Then we might not have noticed that in the REAL world, Jack Bauer would have spent two of the 24 hours driving from San Pedro to downtown LA in traffic on the 405, and another hour looking for parking in downtown close enough to the Federal building that he could actually walk through the front doors without having to step over bums and dodge construction workers the whole way.

"the terrorists are in a warehouse in the Valley."
"I'll be there in 5 minutes!"

Cut to: Jack's SUV stuck in construction traffic at the Getty.

Yeah, that's become sort of a tired joke. Jack's hardly on screen during the entire show and there are 20 minutes of commercials every episode.

I'd be fine with them dropping the real time gimmick. That's all it really is, is a gimmick and the show doesn't need it. I think if it's going to be a mini series instead of 24 one hour shows they'll have to drop it anyway.

Fun fact: I watched and enjoyed season one of 24 via Netflix back in 2005.  Got to the last disk, then had the twist spoiled for me via a random online discussion about the NCAA tournament. Stopped after the first season.

I might pick it up again at some point.

No it was on hiatus and did not return until January 2010, so technically not on.

I just watched these on netflix.

They should have dumped the 24 hour thing after the first season. I thought that the show would have been better off if they made each episode to be on hour real time events, but not have each episode be the subsequent hour. That way the next hour could happen a day, a week, or even a year later.

Also, they really should have killed off Jack. No way he can realistically come back after he went crazy in the last season.

No that blast would happen, Jack would track down the perps while they are trying to put a nuke in a 747 bound for DC.

Jack would be retired and running in the marathon.. then the explosion happens and he kicks back into gear as Boston PD and the FBI fumble around.  Jack finds Chloe to scour the local video feeds and finds the images that the Boston PD ends up using in the Press Conference..

Jack starts the manhunt as they search for the bombers,  Chloe hears about the Armed Robbery and car jacking and Jack is on the scene for the shootout.   Jack says to take him alive and the brother runs his own brother over and Jacks screams NOOOOOOOO!!!

They figure out that the brother is on the way to New York to set off more bombs..  Jack orders a lock down when they find the abandoned car and keep hunting the brother down..

a few commerical breaks and then the phone call about him being in the boat..  Jack gets in a copter and using the Night Vision sees the guy in the boat. After a  few hours of Boston PD just standing around waiting for the kid to come out, Jack repels down from the copter to the backyard and pulls the kid out of the boat and ends the standoff.

Jack says he wants to stay retired and glad he could help.. the Boston PD gets the credit and Jack heads off into the sunset.

I have nothing but love for 24, but let it go - it jumped entire schools of sharks too many times to count. But they are all the same:

(fade in to Jack talking with his group)
Jack: We have a major conspiracy at the highest levels! We have an impending disaster on it's way!
Jack's Boss: Jack, shut up. Even though you prove us wrong every season and save the day, we don't believe you. Stand down.
Jack: Ok (moves over to Chloe). Chloe, you need to download the entire national archives to my phone. But nobody can know
Chloe: Sure Jack. Just let me hack into the CIA servers first
Jack: (Checks his gun and leaves)

Next 23 hours: Jack never eats, drinks, or takes a piss.

The end.

Chloe: It's no use Jack, internet cynics will shut this season down before it starts.

Jack: I want IP's, names, addresses.
Chloe: Which ones?
Jack: All of them.

Maybe the character did it himself? Remember Bourne is not his real name.

Trying not to be "derpy" and all but according to the people in charge right now that was "workplace violence" and not a terrorist attack at Ft. Hood.
