As stated, the #1 priority for individual politicians in America, is not making decisions that benefit the country. The #1 priority is ensuring re-election. Making the decisions that benefit the country is therefore at best #2, and must be sacrificed when it conflicts with #1.

LemSkroob: Marcus Aurelius:
I still believe that the Democrats to some degree have an interest in governing.  The GOP, on the other hand, farks everything up on purpose and then says "See? government doesn't work!".  That's the fundamental difference.

'Party of Bad Ideas' vs 'Party of No Ideas'

Pick your poison.

DERP!

The GOP is strictly the party of bad ideas, who don't even bother to implement them, Period.

Seriously.

At one point during the vote, a majority of Republicans were on record in favor of the RSC budget. Democrats then began casting votes as "present," rather than "no," as they would be expected to do. Without the Democratic "no" votes, the amendment would be adopted and would supersede Budget ranking member Paul Ryan's (R-Wis.) ballyhooed budget.

After time for the vote expired, Republicans held it open so that enough of them could switch their votes to prevent the RSC budget from passing.

Link

These GOP scum don't even believe in their own ideas.

For all of you that like to pretend you're a "both sides are bad, and I'm an honest non-partisan observer" type, find a corresponding example. Can't??? Duh!

Democrats are a disorganized party of good and bad ideas. That's where we're at. Republicans are an authoritarian cult with nothing but a desire to hold power and bad ideas, and the Democrats are people that are NOT Republicans - hippies, scientists, non-religious/non-evangilical christians, women, minorities, teachers, historians, non-austrian school economists...

Both sides are bad!

My god, can't a farking discussion take place without people trying to educate the same trolls on the same subjects again and again? They don't have farking amnesia, people. They just post the same shiat again and again because they know it will get attention.

Please farking ban me for all time so that I am never again tempted to try to converse with another human being here.

I admit my mistake. I admit the mistake we all made. The internet will never be a place for real discussion. You win the argument. Congratulations on your victory. I hope it gives you the psychosexual satisfaction that you're dying for.

Holy farking god damn shiat.

Dude, we aren't arguing for the sake of the trolls. We're arguing for the idjits who  aren't trolls, who  are out there, and who  do need evidence to be convinced. They're there. They're lurkers, or even a few of the 'trolls'--I've seen them change myself.

Stick around a bit. There are real discussions here, and there's a lot of good that goes on. And if all else fails, hey, chatting about late-night drunken snacks in the TFD tab is always fun. :)

I hate to say welcome to fark, but welcome to fark.

I do like you question the mods. People like tenpoundsofthreadshiatting need to be banned, and I am always curious why it doesn't happen.

As for the people flogging the trolls, it is mental mastrubation. I can understand it and it does sometimes result in change, although rare.

It's not the trolls, it's the repetition. Every farking thread in the politics tab turns into a repeat of the same episode of Tom and Jerry again and again and again.

From an article on LinkedIn, written by the CEO of Gallup: "Here's the problem: The very survival of America depends on job growth and GDP. But what are the White House, Congress, and all of the media and talking heads focusing on? Guns, immigration reform, and foreign affairs. Bluntly, none of these issues have much to do with the core drivers or root causes of America's potential decline."

There are many in the business community who share his sentiments, but will not speak up because the last thing they want to appear is "liberal".
This bullsh*t going on in washington is a prime example of what he's talking about, and the republicans are behind it all. Every last f*cking bit of it.
The minority party is supposed not only to oppose the majority party if their ideas are indeed in opposition, but to come up with better ideas of their own and use them to negotiate with the majority party to find the best solution.
Their job is not to act like petulant children in a farking Monty Python gainsaying sketch.

The Republican MO is to repeat bullshat until the uninformed viewer thinks they have a point. After all, they keep hear it, there must be something to it!

Not correcting their bullshat let's that shat out in the open uncorrected. Not correcting their sorry ares plays right into their hands.

People don't correct Republicans to change the minds of Republicans, they do it so their misinformation doesn't infect innocent bystanders.

Indeed.

For those other folks in the thread saying basically "What is the Minority party supposed to do?", it's simple. Put forth your own ideas, and work with the Majority party to seek a compromise. You know, Bi-Partisanship? This worked just fine for the last 200+ years, and while there have been bumps in the road here or there, the GOP during the Obama Administration has taken partisanship to an all-new level.

There's a reason you see "We get it, he's Black" all the time in the Politics threads. I'm not saying the GOP is entirely racist, but they are all playing along with a central leadership that are opposing Obama on every single thing, and offering zero compromise. The GOP does not wish to compromise at all, it is either "their way or the highway", despite being the Minority party.

They were not this way with Clinton, so what is so different about this President, to raise such ire? That's right, he's Black. And for many, many Conservatives, racism is still the norm.

There was still some bi-partisanship in the Clinton era, although yes, it wasn't an ideal working relationship by any means. A white Democratic President would have issues from the GOP today, this is true, but I highly doubt they would have the GOP leadership vowing never to give that President a single victory, and oppose him or her at any cost. That is what they are doing to Obama, and McConnell and his cronies are clearly being this way due to our President's skin color.
