So far, both have only added voice recognition in call centers, not ATMs

So, of course, the accompanying photo is of an ATM.

Part of my wife's wedding vows to me was to "be a beacon" for me.  Everyone at the ceremony who saw Sneakers laughed, those who didn't looked very confused.

Our wedding involved a "Role Models" reference. I think yours may actually have been more obscure.

Having just dealt with a bank, I know this is going to screw up people who can't speak. Of course, a decent bank is going to have a dedicated TTY/TDD line in place.

Ours was like that, but the reference was to A Serbian Film.

I probably should have taken that as a warning sign.

it's also a good movie to keep in mind when playing 'six degrees' games... Aykroyd, Redford, Strathairn, Poitier, Kingsley...

They didn't get too crazy with the screen graphics which is what dates so many other hacker movies. Plus even though the Cray is obsolete, it's still a nice looking machine.

Let's figure out a fast solution to the hidden-subgroup problem and make our own super-decrypting answering machine.  I'd pretty much use the device to do the same thing as the characters in the movie - bankrupt the Koch brothers and Monsanto and send the money to worthy causes.

The dancing scenes are the best.

Although, I think Jones' NSA agent character was enjoying playing Santa Claus by the end of it all.

I thought that was going to prove to be the most obscure reference in the thread.  Once I read through everyone else's comments, I think others would have gotten it too.  I watched the movie a month ago.  It does hold up well except Redford probably was a little too old.
