I still don't know why all insurance companies don't cover nicotine patches, chantix, gum, etc.  Stupid.

Umm... In every state that I have lived in and had someone mention it to me the penalty for assaulting an officer (which also covers corrections officers) is significantly higher than a standard simple assault charge. In fact it has always been referred to as "Assaulting an Officer" though I suspect the name of the law is more descriptive. I believe the standard penalty for assaulting a police officer is, in Maine, a five year stint in the state's corrections department.

This cunning plan of hers may not have been given a very thorough processing.

The lady goes to women's lock-up. The question here is, did she lick it?

That shiatty-ass story left out the absolute best part:

The deputy said he tried to sidestep Lopez as he left the jail through the usual gathering of family members who linger outside the facility a few blocks from the state Capitol. (This is there...)

"I stepped to the left again and she suddenly stepped into me and slapped my face," he said. "I've been telling everybody that I have a new Irish name: Nick O'Derm."
Yet they leave that part out? It's the best part of the story, actually better then the original story, even though that's good as well...

Actually, it looks like TFA just strips pieces from other sources, while the second story just posts the whole thing as an AP piece and lets it ride... Personally, I prefer the second approach. Usually, news service reporters are better than locals, unless it is actually a local story. o- go-to-jail-to-quit-smoking
