Was this headline submitted in 2012?

1) John Buck is tied for 2nd in the NL with 10 HR.  He doesn't do anything else useful with the bat, but he launches things.
2) The Mets are (a little) above average for HRs this year.  Thanks, new fences!
3) David Wright is killing it this year.  Again.

The 2013 angle for mocking the Mets is the non-Harvey starting pitching.  Or that LaTroy Hawkins still plays baseball.  In the major leagues, even.  I would have also accepted "Needs less Cowgill".

But HRs?  They hit HRs.

When I saw "Mets" I knew it would be David Wright. Also, "slugger". In the colloquial sense, because I look at David Wright and always envision all his teammates calling him that.

"Hit a homer and we'll get you a hot dog after the game, slugger!"

"Gee whiz, awesome! Okay, fellas!"

Certainly a far cry from the Scum Bunch of the mid 80s.

I hope that the Mets are working on cloning Matt Harvey, and that is the reason they have been trying to save money signing players from the reject list.

Why does he want to keep the spotlight on the GM?  Is it because he didn't get any credit in the movie version of Moneyball?
