So I heard that Chicago is offering "Play Goalie Night" for every 10th fan, as a favor for the Wild

Going to miss most of the action today... Last day for two of my photography classes so I'll be critiquing their final photo assignments all day and then I'm going to swill beer and play Bocce Ball with some folks I haven't seen in a while...

...and when the sun sets, we break out the glow in the dark Bocce Balls.

I seem to enjoy the nights when the Bruins aren't playing, that way I'm not stressed out and can enjoy the games.

Plus I like it when Montreal gets their asses kicked.

Also, STAY ALIVE ISLES!!!!!

Well crap.

After spending much of the 3rd period last night sitting on the couch with Mrs RT & snoring in her ear (all the while vigorously asserting that "no, no, I'm awake....") , she convinced me to head off to bed at the end of regulation.  I of course drifted off again & woke up right as they cut back to the game & the roar of the crowd woke me up.  Knowing that if they drop the puck I'd stick around (& more than likely fall asleep again - I was whupped), I left for bed right as the OT started.  She had gone to the bedroom with me to grab her book & she told me this morning (after I had watched the highlights) that it was already over by the time she got back.  2 whole minutes of OT hockey.... figures.  Oh well, if I had stayed up it probably would have gone 2-3 OTs & I would be REALLY dead today rather than just tired.  And in the end the correct team won (& frankly that should have been the elimination game, but that's ok as that's the way hockey works).

Oh well, moving forward....

Ottawa needs to put away the Habs tonight.  I hate the Sens but can stand the way the Habs have acted even less.  Besides, at least one Canadian team needs to make it to the 2nd round & the Sens seem to have the best chance at it...

Similarly the Isles need to keep up the trek to a BIG upset over Sidney's publicity machine.  Why, because fark Bergman that's why.

Out west, I'd like to see the Wild make a series of it but Chicago's just too strong this year.  I fully expect them to be the 3rd team to close out their series tonight (with the Sharks & Sens being #s 1 & 2)

/ah the playoffs, great stuff

2013-05-09 09:41:01 AM
I'm sure that they'll fix this, but on NHL's scores page from last night, above each box score (not the banner at the top) they've managed to go 0-4 in describing the current state of each series:

Toronto leads 3-1, Washington wins 4-0, Kings win 4-1 and Detroit leads 3-2

I can't take a screenshot of it at the moment though

To be fair, for several years the Gophers were a bigger draw/harder ticket to get than the Wild

1st thing for TF, cuz we're special.  For at least a month at a time.

Ugh. Way too late to stay up last night watching the Anaheim overtime.

Maybe I'll go take a nap on the can.

I want to see Ottawa take out the Habs.  And I hope the Isles win just to shut up the obnoxious swimming bird fans.  That way we wont have to see that stupid spinning penguin type thing anymore.  Not sure who thought that was cool, but they probably listen to dubstep.  And I'd like to see the Wild at least make a series out of it.  I don't think they can win, but give us a show.  And I think Vancouver will probably shoot an 83, going to OT at the 19th hole.

Kind of hoping the Habs can drag this series out on the off chance of another 200+ PIM game.

But not really

Pens!
Sens!
Wild!

Even if they lose, they'll still be alive, but for the sake of all real hockey fans, I hope they beat the swimming birds.  The Pens had a great team before they went all New York Yankees at the trade deadline.  Hopefully it destroys their chemistry, and the hockey gods can have a good laugh with the rest of us

I'd love to see them upset the Pengus

I now officially hate the LA Kings, except for Pennercakes.

There would be no triumph if Chicago closes it out tonight, but it would be nice for them to be rested for the next round.

Looking forward to great hockey in the other games.

I think that summarizes why Ovechkin has never made a serious Cup run -- he's not really what you would call a "team player". Every once in a while he gets motivated and says "Imma win it on my own!" and they go on a bit of a streak, but he can't keep doing that forever and then the team starts losing again.

Donnchadha: I think that summarizes why Ovechkin has never made a serious Cup run

It's true, he can't do it all himself and he's clearly uninterested in being a role player.

Cut him some slack.  He's pretty damn good considering he using a Russian knock-off controller.  Their wi-fi is spotty at best.

Fun fact: Budaj only lost one game in regulation this year, with a 5.00GAA, and .815 sv%. To Ottawa.

All sign point to me going home tomorrow.  Pneumonia, blood clots, and abdominal abscess and only 1 week on the hospital.  I'm not in game shape yet, but I should be suited up by the Finals. I'm like the Eric Karlsson of Fark.
