Sorry, no info from me. Just wanted to give my condolences.

/Happy hunting.

That's not too far from my hometown. My condolences to your friend, Subby.

Condolences as well, but after the fiasco in Boston, maybe crowd sourcing the search isn't the greatest way?

//really, very very sorry.

If they have a picture of the car send it over to Jalopnik. The commenters there are very good at identifying cars from bad photos and broken plastics. Good luck and I'm sorry fro your friends loss.

by the car sounds like it's going to be some kid

It's Farkers.  Despite the inevitable rush of ITGs once they've solved the mystery to their content (admitting that we will probably find 'convincing' evidence that it was an illluminati conspiracy relying on Farker's investigative 'skills') the odds of any of them actually moving from their chair to cause anyone any actual inconvenience are pretty much nil.

It's a good idea to call all the local auto insurance companies. Alert them to investigate any possible claims with damage consistent with this hit and run. If the hit and run driver has insurance, he will probably make a claim.

Good thing they aren't in GA. No one puts in an insurance claim.

/can't count how many cars I've seen with messed up front-ends, missing lights etc.

No where near CA, but thoughts to your friend. Hope they catch who ever did this.

sorry for your friends loss subby.

i am very sure they will find the person really soon.

I bet those 4chan guys could get this done. But I wouldn't take it them either.

Don't most insurance companies want a police report for a claim? I am guessing he is trying hard to repair the damage and repaint the car as quickly as possible. I would say by the end of the weekend, the car will be a different color or dumped in a lake.

Sad deal. I hope somebody catches this guy/girl soon.

/Condolences to the family

Also try Jalopnik - they have helped Police on several car identification gigs.

2013-05-09 09:37:33 AM
Sorry to hear about this. But I don't think you can do too much with "electric blue Mitsubishi, possibly a Lancer, with passenger side damage". However, if you set enough hooks you greatly increase your chances to get a bite. And it's got far better chances of getting a lead than doing nothing.  Good luck and I hope they catch the culprit.

Since there's a death the fuzz will likely get a dick to drive past all of the cars in their vehicle database that matches the one looking for matching damage.

2013-05-09 09:37:49 AM
Condolences.

I'm on the other coast, but I've had two cars totalled by two hit-and-run assholes in the last five years, so I can sympathize.

Hope they catch the bastard.

Dpeneds on the amount of damage.  I believe in NY if the claim is under $800 and no injuries, police don't have to be notified (Our police are too busy playing with their gameboys in vacant parking lots to be bothered for their 100k/year).

Also, chances are a claim won't be filed.  The car is probably under a tarp in their backyard.

However, with a hit n run, the police automatically notify all body shops in the area to be on the lookout for the car model involved and the type of damage that might of occurred.

Jalopnik often does stories similar to this thread in an attempt to crowdsourcing a vehicle id.  Consider contacting them if they haven't already put this story up there.

Nevermind, did not read TFA.  Thought there was video if the incident.

Okay.  I will look.
But it will take him a long time to get here if he is driving.

Have they contacted the local PD?

So, Was the car doing some sort of Tokyo drift or something? How did it cause a fatal injury using the passenger side door? Running a red?

And yeah, I'll never ride a motorcycle. I prefer a metal cage around me when traveling at speed excess of 10 mph.

A motorcycle enthusiast in GA sends his condolences... hope they nab the driver.

2013-05-09 10:41:05 AM
My condolences to your friend and her family at this awful time. I'm nowhere near CA but shared it for some of my CA friends anyway. I have numerous friends and family, including my own husband, that are riders and I'd hope someone would help them if in a similar situation.

2013-05-09 10:50:03 AM
Shiat dude.  Really sorry.  I have a motorcycle and this sends chills up my spine.  I'm quite a bit south down here in Orange County, but will keep an eye out.

*hugs* for you and the rider's family

What the hell, sorry for the lose, but how is this going green ever in the world going to help in finding the driver? This at least should have stayed in TF Discussion.

Turning left into oncoming traffic. And the only factory "electric" blue Mitsu I'm aware of is the Evo VIII. Not a very common car to begin with.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

The crazy part of this is that i live in SoCal, and I drive a blue Mitsubishi lancer Ralliart.

I don't go around killing people though in it.

The good news is there aren't many of them around. Whenever I see someone in a same color lancer, I always notice it.

Good luck finding them!

Are you reading impaired?  It says "Farker" not "TotalFarker."

My spouse rides a motorcycle and has business in Arcadia on a regular basis, subby.  I've got nothing for you, but hopefully a local business will have video or the police will find something on the DMV database.

I agree with the person upthread who said it sounded like a young person.  Arcadia is pretty affluent, most older folk drive luxury cars there.

Sorry about the loss of the husband.  Lost my cousin to the same thing.  All I can say is take a clue from this and never get on a motorcycle.  It's just not worth it.  The truth of the matter is that the driver is probably back in Mexico where no matter how good the evidence is they'll never extradite them even for murder.

No, I am not reading impaired, asshole! But tell me how some Farker reading this is actually going to help find the person? If you ask me, Subby is just an AW and is looking for all the "gee, sorry to hear that, my condolences".

You might try asking gas stations in the area to review their cameras. Combine the car with possible credit card or debit card usage, and you might get something. Good luck.

You're seriously arguing against the idea of getting information about a crime out to the public as a way of possibly solving the crime?

You can also see if someone was talking on their cell phone and leaving a voice mail around that time and maybe in the background the driver can be heard saying "oh crap".  You can then use that voice print and do a spectral scan of all conversations and see if you can get a voice print match with at least 68% accuracy.

I don't know about that $800 thing, my step mother accidentally backed into my car a couple months ago and the estimate was $1000, but I guess because she was family and we both have State Farm they just paid for it with no call to the police.

And just in case anyone wants to mock her for it, she was on her way to the hospital to see my dad who had a heart attack, and wasn't used to my car being there so I couldn't really get mad at her; she's a bit scatterbrained on the best days.

I just wanted to offer my condolences.

This is why I don't ride a two-wheeler anymore, and why I'm glad my fiancee doesn't want to ride either. In the end, it doesn't come down to how skilled or safe you are, but how skilled or safe the automobile drivers are, and anyone who has been out there on two wheels knows how dangerous some drivers are. They'll f♥ck with bikers on purpose, sometimes. Some drivers act like they resent sharing the road with anything that has less than four wheels.

And surviving a motorcycle or other two-wheeler accident is a lot less likely than surviving one in an enclosed vehicle.

It sucks that your friend's husband was left to die by some selfish, awful human being who deserves prison time. It's basically murder. I hope they catch the bastard and give him/her a quick trip through the justice system.
