It's not a black thing, it's a SOUTHERN thing.o_OI'm as North as North can get (not physically, socially) and fried chicken and watermelon were staples every summer picnic. That, and one evening my mom's Pyrex dish shattered while cooking up some ribs in the oven; to talk ourselves out of being idiots, my dad and I actually had to discuss the risks of small bits of glass (pyrex) that might be in the food./they looked daaaamned good//had a sad that evening

h0tsauce: / Road tripped to Memphis for the ribs and catfish. Was disappointed.
Osato: Kahabut:The guy is uneducated, has a criminal background and talks like a drunken twitter feed. He didn't do anything heroic, he didn't face down death, or even a threat of any kind. He followed the screams of a woman in desperation. That's "HUMAN".Most people would ignore the screams. Cops would ignore the screams, just like they did with the numerous reports of abuse. You would also ignore the screams because you're so willing to assume that someone else would do the 'human' thing if you just went by your business. And this guy? He didn't ignore the screams, even though he previously believed the house's owner to be a reputable man; instead, he risked his own reputation to investigate the occurence and then helped an unfamiliar person leave his neighbor's house. Maybe he didn't face down death, but he fought the bystander effect and won - something that is completely impossible for most members of our rotten society. If that is not heroic, I don't know what is.
khyberkitsune: h0tsauce: / Road tripped to Memphis for the ribs and catfish. Was disappointed. You screwed up going to Memphis for catfish (exception - Soul Fish off of Cooper/Young.)You want catfish, you haul your butt down into Mississippi for the Mississippi Catfish Company.Where'd you go for the ribs? I'll tell you right now most places on Beale Street SUCK for BBQ.
tlchwi02: Gyrfalcon: Ten years ago. I'd say he's paid his dues and then some today.I agree- he ran to help a woman in a situation that a decade ago he might have been the one perpetrating. not only do I have no problem with him keeping the hero tag, but the fact he could change from a perpetrator to someone willing to step in and stop it almost speaks more for him.
Kahabut: It's terribly sad that you are surrounded with such pathetic examples of humanity that you think that is a heroic act.
Ivo Shandor: banandar123: Give this guy free McDonalds for life...At the very least. Come one, now. Just for being so awesome. It sounds like they're going to do something for him.
Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: Anyone else see some of the "if you like Charles Ramsey, you're racist" super liberal bullshiat that's started?
