I'm going to give this some love, submitter, because I hope one of these goes green.  This is the wife's fav soap and I just saw "Catherine Chancellor" on an episode a few days ago.

/I guess Chancellor Enterprises needs a new CEO?

She'll return as her identical twin sister or something.

They'll turn Catherine's funeral into a "look how much this hurts Victor" fest, followed by Newman Enterprises' hostile takeover of Chancellor Industries, to great acclaim.

/and Adam will be blamed for Catherine's death

She appointed Cane Ashby a few episodes ago. Pissed Jill off something fierce. I haven't watched TYaTR regularily for a while but catch an episode here or there when I can.

When she drove off the cliff with Mr. Chancellor, and he ended up marrying Jill on his hospital death bed, is forever etched into my brain.

New Psych episode just started as I'm reading this. Kinda puts a damper on it.

Ya know, its funny.

My older sister used to watch the hell out of that show when we were young. Every now and then, I'd catch parts of it (it was on from 11AM to noon, and my 'be home time' for when dad would call on his lunch break at the mill was noon-1230pm).

Anyhow, three decades ago, she looked...really, just about like that. She was like the female Dick Clark.

RIP classy lady. Her recent memoir "Not Young, Still Restless" was a very interesting read.
Y&R is one of the few shows my mom and I still watch together whenever we can. A sad day indeed in Genoa City!

I had completely forgotten about that. Dammit, I hated Jill. I watched it for many years...she seemed like a really cool lady.

Huh, seriously?  I knew who she was but had no idea she was Corbin Bernsen's mother.

My mum used to race to see this show. I remember the plastic surgery episode. That and "Snapper". My introduction to The Hoff.

Huh. I watch Psych regularly and got a kick out of seeing Bernsen on an episode of ST:TNG.

RIP. I have a lot of respect for people like her. And there are not many left, or will there be others.

Bummer.  RIP, classy lady.  At least Eric Braeden is still kicking around.

texdent: She'll return as her identical twin sister or something.

They've done the "identical stranger" storyline with her over the years.  Think they ended up killing off the drunken lookalike in a car accident about five years ago.

xaks: Anyhow, three decades ago, she looked...really, just about like that. She was like the female Dick Clark.

She had a facelift in 1984.  The writers had her character undergo the surgery at the same time (and used footage from Jeanne's actual surgery) to explain why Kay was suddenly less wrinkly.

ooh i love me some eric braeden!  i just watched that bit of Titanic that he was in.  it's the accent.  drives me nuts!

i'm so very sad to see jeanne cooper pass.  i've watched this show since i was prolly too young to watch it, but it's something my grandmother always had on - and i spent most of my childhood with her.  my 93-year old grandmother presently sits in an old-people home, still tuning in every afternoon after the news.  a stroke left her unable to speak, but i am sure that she'll be looking me to answer what happened to catherine chancellor.  this news will break her heart, i'm sure.

I've watched this show...of course, not everyday...
But continuously for about 35 years now.
Steadily and everyday for the last 10, at least.
My mom watched it...got me interested in the 70's-80's when I was just a kid...
Then, when I married 13 years ago or so...my wife was into it and I picked it up again on a daily basis.

R.I.P.
I didn't always like her character...but to have watched her almost daily for so damn long...
It's a strange "loss". Not like I cared or anything, but it really is like someone you actually know dying.
In a far away, emotionless sort of way.

I betcha they'll give her a helluva a flashback filled send-off...

On another note...how stupid is it for Lauren to keep denying the affair to Michael???
How stupid was it to have the affair with Carmine??? He's the biggest tool on pretty much any show on TV.
Sigh!

When I was in college, our house used to watch that almost every afternoon. After lunch, we'd sit around and shout jabs at how slutty each of them (DoOL cast) were, while laughing our buts off.

/good times

She was a legend and an icon. She was great on the show. My mom watched the show when I was growing up in the 70's. I picked it up again at college where a bunch of us would see it during lunch before heading out to class. I still catch once in a while.

Whole house in E.L. would schedule classes around Y&R...yes, the guys too....nice break for some recreational doings.  We hated Jill.

Me too. That was in 1975. Then 3 years later he showed up as Dutch on "Soap".

Katherine loved the stable boys back in the day.

That was one of the first shows I caught, home from lunch in the 8th grade. I've watched that show off and on ever since. She practically raised me.

RIP Jeanne. And thanks.

/when Eric Braeden quits or dies all television will end for me
//Y&R - where recovering alcoholics always keep a fully stocked bar at home, y'know, just in case...

She always reminded me of the freaky looking red-nosed puppet on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.

Yeah, I watched the Young and the Restless, so what?

Victor is a bad ass.

I don't know anything about daytime soaps other than looking at the cover of Soap Opera Guide while I'm standing in line at the grocery store. Based on the fact that I've see this guy's picture on the cover of every single issue for the last decade, I've always assumed that he's been farking the hell out of the magazine's publisher.
