Crab myths?  I'm pretty sure I know the girl who did it.

Fark you Discovery.

I won't watch Deadliest Catch and all your other bullshiat no matter how you try to cross-promote it.

Crab myth: You can get them from toilet seats.

Crabs are a horrible thing to catch, but they are far from deadly.  Just shave your junk and stop having sex with skanks.

I'm here to testify that that is NOT a myth.
Boy... is that not a myth.
Still want to strangle the former co-worker responsible.

The fire is just to chase them out of the underbrush.
Then you stab them with an icepick.
That's what I heard, anyway.

Crab farts!! I want them to test crab farts!!

The problem is, in general, they try and cross-promote stuff that's already popular and doesn't pair well with the other show, and all but ignore the stuff that's better, like Time Warp and things like that.  Odds are, if it's ACTUALLY science based, they figure the people who are going to watch it are going to watch it.  Oh, and said show is almost universally paired with MythBusters on the schedule in the first place.

Did Mythbusters ever cross-promote Dirty Jobs?  I totally would have watched Mike Rowe being snarky while Jamie and Adam tried to bury him in filth.

I actually liked Dirty Jobs. The subject matter itself was somehow interesting, and I appreciated the way Rowe (or his script) worked all the dick jokes and other innuendo into it. Funny but also informative. That guy is a Farker, for sure.

How does it compare to Dead Guy?

People may biatch about how reality shows are scripted, and certainly most are.. but I still have faith that 90% of what we see on Deadliest Catch is the real deal, and still entertaining.

Less bite than Dead Guy; I like it a bit more.  Dead Guy is a little heavy after the first one.

No matter how low or cheesy their myths get, at least they aren't doing what every other reality show eventually does and start trying to add side plots that have nothing to actually do with the show.

Like Pawn Stars. I used to enjoy it because it showed cool old shiat and usually a fair value by the expert he always calls in. And then seeing how much Rick and co. could screw them. But now they feel like they have to insert drama and other bullshiat. I don't care if the son wants to be a part owner. i don't care if Chum Lee calls in sick. Stop making fake shiat up and just show me cool shiat.

As ancient and as tired and clapped out as the shows are, nothing beats kicking back and drinking beer and watching Mythbusters or the Dog Whisperer.  New or repeats, it doesn't matter.  I am not ashamed to admit it.

karmaceutical: myth busters is still on?

Yup. They just celebrated the 10th anniversary of the rocket car myth from their first show by doing it again. Even with 6 JATOs and a ramp they still couldn't get the thing to fly more than a couple hundred feet.

That show after Mythbusters, Big Brain Theory seems pretty cool. Give a bunch of engineers a problem and 3 days to solve it, then blow stuff up. Of course it's got your drama of a reality show, but it's better than most.

One of the best online Aftershows ever.

1)Yes, it was Grant.
2)They were at the bottom of the big hill as usual.
3) The cannon rose 5 degrees.
4) Causing the ball to hit a rock and skip.
5) Inertia for the win.

I'm still annoyed that I missed that episode.  Hadn't read about it being Grant - the whole scenario had "Tory" written all over it. :P

Is there anything left on Discovery worth watching? Deadiest Catch was the last decent show I remember them having.. Then Phil died and they milked his death, buried him, dug him back up and milked him some more... farking vultures..

I haven't seen it since Phil died. They didn't literally dig his corpse back up and put it on a boat did they? Because with the amount of respect I currently have for Discovery, I would believe you if you said, "yes."

you shave a line down the middle, set one side on fire, and get them with the ice pick while they're running across the clear zone.

Eating crabs is a mess business.  Best part of crabbing in Louisiana is the ease of the cleanup.  You walk your crab tray to the end of the jetty and throw the scraps back into the bayou.

Only if you mean that the media scrutiny made it harder for him to hide and resulted in him being sent.

/I seriously doubt it pushed him into the drugs in the first place, and some of those guys had drug problems long before the camera crews showed up

I'll agree.  They do have sideplots/added drama.   Watching the 10th anniversary special was painful with all of the tweet pop-ups.  I don't give a shiat that @kelly69girl is excited for more new 'sodes of #mythbusters.  They have also gotten really bad about "and now lets go see what Tory and Grant are doing" type things where they shoehorn the minor characters into the show.  The formula seems to be Adam and Jamie do something somewhat scientific while zomg look how crazy Tory, Grant, and Kari are.  They totally gave that thing a rad paint job and blew it  up good.

The craziest part was actually when I rewatched a few of the first episodes before the 10th anniversary special.  It was amazing how they used to take two myths and went into detail without any real filler (half of the episode wasn't about painting something or a preview/redcap around the commercial breaks).

I just wish Myth Busters would stop saying they're science. Where's the rigor?
