(Apple)   Hollywood has finally made the movie where a guy who is going around killing bankers and CEO is the good guy. Because glorifying the idea of shooting everyone you feel is responsible for your failure is EXACTLY what we need right now   (trailers.apple.com) divider line 117

Sounds Netflix-worthy.

The movie "random guy goes on rampage with basically no justification" has already been made about as well as it will ever be made, because only once has a movie done it and outright admitted the protagonist was the villain.

It was called "Falling Down" and you can farking stop trying to re-make it, because if I want to watch it again I have the disc.

Actually, bankers and CEO's are responsible for quite a lot of people's misery.

It opens this friday?

Wow, with all the promotion they've done this is SURE to pay out.

I wonder what the investors in this film will think, what they'll do, when it tanks...

2013-05-08 08:07:21 PM
Well, when you read stuff like this

Just before the collapse of Lehman Brothers, executives at Neuberger Berman sent e-mail memos suggesting, among other things, that the Lehman Brothers' top people forgo multi-million dollar bonuses to "send a strong message to both employees and investors that management is not shirking accountability for recent performance."
Lehman Brothers Investment Management Director George Herbert Walker IV dismissed the proposal, going so far as to actually apologize to other members of the Lehman Brothers executive committee for the idea of bonus reduction having been suggested. He wrote, "Sorry team. I am not sure what's in the water at Neuberger Berman. I'm embarrassed and I apologize'

You get the impetus for making the movie...

Killing without harvesting vital nutrients and water is just wasteful.

Nabb1: Nabb1: I mean, I don't find this outrageous or offensive, but how is killing a shady hedge fund manager stock executive and shooting up their Wall Street office supposed to get you your nest egg back?  Seems poorly thought out to me.

Scratch that hedge fund part.  Hedge fund managers work for the ultra-wealthy, and I imagine have nothing to do with some blue collar dude's pension and 401K. Then again, this is Uwe Boll.

The largest investors in many hedge and PE funds are pension plans.

I'd really rather see a movie where a team of hackers, grifters, thieves and whatnot simply arranged for every unethical banker and CEO responsible for the recent economic malfeasance to get caught in such an overt, public, easily-understood way that not even their purchased politicians could save them. All would wind up in horrible disgrace, get sent to PMITA prison for other sins or wind up asking for long sentences just so they aren't killed by the organized criminals they were already in bed with after the team reveals they were sleazy even to their own associates.

Why kill them when you could spit-roast them for years and years? Killing them creates martyrs. Better to destroy them so utterly that their friends would have to bend down to spit on them, and thus send a message that to betray the trust of the people is to court oblivion.

You could technically save money and just greenlight a run of 'Leverage' movies where Parker, Eliot and Hardison run the team to accomplish this. I bet Jeri Ryan would help produce them if the writers asked, and if they made the wafer-thin disguises of the bad guys in question just a little bit more transparent, then Anonymous would grow too numerous to prosecute and there would simply be too many people responsible for the actual downfalls in question for civil suits to really be productive. It isn't libel when it's true, and it isn't defamation to point out that somebody actually committed a crime.

How is this a new thing?

Because class warfare and soshulisms!

It's only class warfare when the lower class fights back.

Really makes one miss the days when movies were just about the old craggy white Clint Eastwood shooting up all the minorities and punks, many of whom blatantly speak their native language.

I saw the trailer for this a little while back and thought it looked retarded then.  At that point, I didn't know Uwe Boll directed it.  Now it all makes sense.

That man (if he can be called such) has yet to create anything that hasn't been a steaming pile of horseshiat.

Class warfare for class warfare. They want it, they got it.

(Don't worry, not you, subby; everyone realizes that you're a sad, pathetic asshole who hopes that someone from the upper class will let you suck pennies from his urethra if you just cheerlead for him enough. SPOILER ALERT: It doesn't end that way, and those aren't pennies on your face.)

Why get it back for some stooge to take it again? Burn everything down, they have more to lose.

Never forget this fact.

I don't advocate violence, but if someone could flip a switch and disappear wall street, I'd be fine.  Turmoil, stagnation, and a dearth of credit would be worth it to get rid of that massive leech suckling on our productivity.

Hollywood has made a fortune by promoting and growing the culture of violence in this country.

Monkeyfark Ridiculous: The protagonist of Falling Down isn't the good guy.

Of course he isn't.  But he resonates with people.  That's the appeal and point of the movie.  The point of many villians.  They transgress the bounds you cannot.

Yes, by writing that post you are.
