Why do they call you Krasny?

Probably because I'm Chechen.

In 1966, Andy Dufresne escaped from Shawshank prison. All they found of him was a muddy set of prison clothes, a bar of soap, and an old rock hammer, damn near worn down to the nub. I remember thinking it would take a man six hundred years to tunnel through the wall with it. Old Andy did it in less than twenty. Oh, Andy loved geology. I imagine it appealed to his meticulous nature. An ice age here, million years of mountain building there. Geology is the study of pressure and time. That's all it takes really, pressure, and time. That, and a big goddamn poster. Like I said, in prison a man will do most anything to keep his mind occupied. Turns out Andy's favorite hobby was totin' his wall out into the exercise yard, a handful at a time. I guess after Tommy was killed, Andy decided he'd been here just about long enough. Andy did like he was told, buffed those shoes to a high mirror shine. The guards simply didn't notice. Neither did I... I mean, seriously, how often do you really look at a mans shoes? Andy crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of shiat smelling foulness I can't even imagine, or maybe I just don't want to. Five hundred yards... that's the length of five football fields, just shy of half a mile.

I liked the part where he tunnel led right into the warden's dacha just as he was receiving a new TV, and had to act out all the stuff that would have been on the tv

So we should put that under "Educational"?

0.284091 is just shy of .500000 ?  This always bothered me.  A dark spot in an otherwise magnificent cinematic climax.

It's actually just shy of half a kilometer. But this has always nagged at me, too.

That is the best (serious) movie I ever saw.

I always wondered if, because the film was largely shot in Ohio but based in Maine, if there's any amusing clips left on the cutting room floor of natives f*cking with them. I know if I happened to drive by when they were shooting the scene of Red on that farm field, I might have shouted "GO BUCKEYES" and the crew would flip me off.

I think the 'Family Guy' parody of Shawshannk was probably one of the funniest things they ever did.  It really highlights the one fairly unrealistic point upon which the entire epilogue hinges on.

Well....if he is caught it looks like he'll end up at Russia's Black Dolphin prison...which is escape-proof.

Crazy stuff, but the derp is strong on those comments...people wishing our prison systems ran like some sort of military installation in Russia.

Those aren't military prisons. US prisons you can have guns, drugs and whores daily....not much of a prison. I would be curious to see how Leavenworth is run though (but only by visiting...not staying there).
