To be fair, gramps did drive himself home from the grocery store with a broken arm AND a broken hip.  So he's not a total feeb.

I didn't watch the video but I must be missing something.  He was in his car and unable to get out for 4 days.  One would think that at some point he would have put the car in gear and crash through the garage door.

Fortunately he had food with him or he might have eaten himself to death.

Why would he stay in the garage when he obviously was able to drive in to the garage in the first place? He must have a garage door opener. So, open the garage and drive out again. Drive to a neighbor's or flag down a pedestrian for help.

Someone who is 90 years old shouldn't be driving a car to begin with.

What I want to know is how the fark the store let him go. If a dude falls and breaks his arm and hip in your store, you call paramedics, not have your employees carry the man out and throw him in his car. There had best be a lawsuit coming.

Maybe. I worked in a retirement home for a few years when I was younger and a large amount of the people that fell and were injured were more pissed off and embarresed it happened in the first place and wanted the hell out of the area immediately. Some knew they were to hurt to move.. Occasionally though some would try to walk it off. Thats when the phone book and badeball bats had to be used on them. For their saftey mind you, but it was always hard to hit them when they were trying to get up.

/Seriously though, if an elderly person falls and cant get up, call 911. Chances are they are injured worse then what it appears. Get medical help as quickly as possible.

Why didn't he just lay on the horn for a few hours?

Because you say so? Evidently this old guy could handle it. It was just at the grocery store where he needed someone to look out for him.

No, because he is farking 90 years old. Maybe he's the rare exception that still has quick reflexes, quick thinking, proper eyesight and hand-eye coordination, but I doubt it. Drivers over 85 have a 4 times higher risk than teens of causing a fatal traffic accident. They don't realize their senses are not as sharp as they used to be.

But let me rephrase: Someone who is 90 years old shouldn't be driving a car unless he is having regular tests to make sure he can still drive safely.

But  I admit that I am biased since some old fart in Volvo ruined my bicycle and broke my leg.

The grocery store staff who put him in his car are dicks though.

Yeah, I don't get this. How is the garage door down if he never got out of his car? If he has a remote, he could easily have opened the door. If the door was open, why didn't he just drive to the hospital or, into the driveway?

But I suppose that when you hit 90, your thinking is not as clear as it used to be.

Or just roll into the street and sit there until someone stops to see why he is blocking traffic? Or just lean on the horn? I assume the answer is "because he's farking old" but it doesn't exactly add up.
