I mean, they pretty much are on an unlimited hunting season for those things for some 70+ years. They are killing them just to farking kill them. Killing them for fur. Killing them for food. Killing them just to shoot things like good ol swamp folk.

We only drive delicious and/or valuable species to extinction.

It seems odd that the alligator population hasn't increased with the greater food source, but gators only eat three months a year and these things breed like crazy.

The cobra effect. The French once tried an almost identical bounty program, where they paid people for each rat tail they brought in. It not only didn't work, it actually increased the rat population. Some enterprising poor folks were breeding rats for the bounty, others were cutting off the tails and releasing the tail-less - but alive - rats back out so they could continue to breed more rats.

I'm going to register a chinese language website and write up an article about how the spleen of the nutria is the most potent enhancer of manhood ever found... then I'm going to start up a nutria farm/processing center and an export business...  gold, Jerry... gold!  it can't miss!

I understand the Sheriff's office uses them for target practice (inside the city parks) with silencers.
