Isn't this really old? I could have sworn I've even seen it, or something like it, animated in gif form.

Lorelle: Debunked

Yup, and even if it wasn't, it would have just been an artifact of Google stitching two photos together.

TFA conveniently cropped out the cloned patch of brick that gave it away. Streetview didn't create the image.

Man I miss that photo around here.  Every time I'm walking somewhere and spot a random dead animal on the ground, I'm tempted to run and make a FREE _____ sign to put up next to it.

I did not know that street view was a composite of multiple images, I just assumed it was one long exposure

2013-05-08 06:13:55 AM
I'm guessing that had to be shopped just a little bit.  Like, by Google's own people, if nothing else.  It's obvious how the image got mangled to start with.  But it would be miraculous for it to end up that seamless without at least a good bit of help.

I'm sure by now, damn near all of us know that Google is not above joking with their serious programs that everyone uses.  Let's use for example the directions for driving to England from NJ.  Or, if you zoom in on the moon close enough, it seems that it is made of cheese.

Make the signs ahead of time, and keep them in your car, along with a marker. Voila, there you go!

That was hilarious. But I have one question.

What does "check-kiting" mean? (FTA)

Why are there at least 5 sites talking about this yesterday? This pic has been on the web for AT LEAST 5 years.

Link

It is commonly defined as intentionally writing a check for a value greater than the account balance from an account in one bank, then writing a check from another account in another bank, also with non-sufficient funds, with the second check serving to cover the non-existent funds from the first account.[1] The purpose of check kiting is to falsely inflate the balance of a checking account in order to allow written checks that would otherwise bounce to clear. - wikipedia

Yeah, I've found this one kind of puzzling. For one thing, it's suuuuper old (5 years or more is ancient on the internet). Secondly, why is every site posting this trying the "golly, is this real" angle for an obvious 'shop?

The internet apparently lacks a memory. I was informed recently of something called a "Bad Advice Mallard", then learned it's been around for a couple years. Apparently the Advice Dog that kicked off all the other advice animal memes has now been forgotten.
