Colbert-Busch has as much experience as Linda McMahon does.

You really want to send these kind of folk to Washington?

2013-05-07 08:42:38 PM
I guess this isn't quite as embarrassing as when we re-elected Dollar Bill after he was indicted, but it sure is close.

Well, it's not my election.  But I could really probably do without either of them.

And by more than 9 points too.

God farking dammit SC

That region of the state was so much more Democratic when I lived there.  Odd.

Somewhere in a New York apartment, Anthony Weiner turns off the TV, swivels in his leather chair, and smiles

Memo to Democrats: It's probably not a good idea to have a nutjob like Alan Grayson to campaign for your candidate in a very red district. This would be like having Michele Bachmann campaigning for the GOP candidate for the Massachusetts senate seat.  http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/05/06/1207213/-SC-01-Alan-Grayson- D -FL-9-Campaigns-For-Elizabeth-Colbert-Busch-D

Weiner might very well win the mayors race in New York. Christine Quinn is horrible, Bill Thompson is a has been and John Liu is a crook.

Just goes to show, SC voters would vote for the Anti-Christ if he had a R next to his name

I am a Charlestonian and I appalled. Words will come to me later, but suffice it to say, I hate this.

To be fair, Colbert-Busch was wanting of experience.

CT said "fark you" to Linda McMahon because she was the same.

Massachusetts: 9 members of congress: all Democrats, both senators: Democrats, Governor and Lt Governor: Democrats. State Legislature: Roughly 85% Democratic. How come this doesn't upset you?

I think that district is still the same as it was 20 years ago.  At least Charleston county was very heavily Democratic.  Was turnout low or something?

Hmm.

Because I don't know of any of them getting caught embezzling tax money.

Because none of those Democrats took off to a foreign country on the taxpayers dime to have an affair while lying to their constituents?

What do you expect from the south?

2013-05-07 09:25:15 PM
Well, that was fun. If Sanford has any balls, he'll turn around and do Colbert's "better know a district"

2013-05-07 09:25:34 PM
They will learn you get that you vote for, and they won't like it down the road.

2013-05-07 09:25:42 PM
If I let the drug-suppressed conspiracy-lobe of my brain run with this, I'd say Colbert (Stephen) engineered this election in Sanford's favor. What could be better for the Colbert Report?

STUDY IT OUT, PEOPLE!

Good. I would rather have a adulator than a inexperienced liberal riding her brother coattails.

No Ivy League educated, tenured captains of industry have ever farked over the country.

A part of me is tempted to author a big "fark you Sanford voters" letter to the editor. I am pissed with the people here.

Probably a win for comedy.

"Adultery" and "dereliction of duty" are definitely the kinds of experience you want in public officials.

At least one of them had knowledge of his wife's involvement in an illegal gambling ring. But IOIYAD.  http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2012/07/22/ga m bling_charges_against_rep_john_tierneys_family_threaten_his_political_ future/

Mark Stanford isn't a very good choice for them, but Colbert-Busch wouldn't be a good choice either.  Not overly surprised by the result of this election.

You forgot the "while also so out-of-touch that no one could get a hold of him in an emergency" part.

Despite an effort by our illustrious General Assembly, we are once again reminded that South Carolina is the fourth best Carolina, behind North Carolina and two Carolinas that don't exist.

2013-05-07 09:29:17 PM
Sanford ran a great campaign against Pelosi and Obama.

2013-05-07 09:29:40 PM
This is sad but not surprising. I live in DC, we just had to pass a referendum that said that if you were convicted of a felony while in office, you can't run for office again. Because in DC, that has been a problem.

Men of power have always been expected to be sexually profligate. Clinton, JFK, Jefferson, Putin, Genghis Kahn, Alexander the Great. It's only this strange puritanical culture we have here in the US that bemoans a man taking advantage of the rights afforded to him as someone with political power.

If he does a good job, isn't that what matters? Clinton did pretty great, and he was a moral slimebag. But his job wasn't to be a moral leader. It was to be a leader of the country.

2013-05-07 09:31:52 PM
I wonder if this will help his court case.
