TOTALLY different picture.  She has a completely different shirt and hat on.  And I think she added product to her hair.

I just bought a box of Cosmic Brownies the other day, so........

I thought it was interesting that on the back was a letter from Little Debbie herself asking people not to buy the knock off brands.

Reminds me of how I didn't realize they'd changed the NFL logo until about 2 years after they did it.

That's cocaine. 1985 was a pretty awesome year for cocaine.

Citation needed, subby. TFA said 16 renderings over the course of a year.  $125k per rendering is a pretty steep amount of cash.

Unless they had consultants come in and do it. That shiat can easily be millions for a "re-branding effort".

2013-05-07 10:36:48 PM
Seriously though, it looks like they went through a whole lot of trouble to make the image just a tiny bit more bland and corporate. There is not a single change I would consider an improvement, whereas the 1985 design is clearly superior to 1960.

As for the original photo, COVER UP THOSE ARMS YOU SHAMELESS HUSSY!

Of course it could be that they were overcharged. But "could be" isn't "probably."

What "probably" happened is they decided they wanted a logo refresh and got a graphic designer at $150/hr, who overbilled them at 20 hours per rendering for 16 renderings and ended up with a $60k bill.

I <3 Little Debbie. My youngest son has Asperger's and is an extremely picky eater as a
result. The boy can't stand ice cream, pie, or any kind of cake EXCEPT for Little Debbie
Zebra Cakes. He loves those little suckers.

Every birthday we end up getting a birthday cake for his party guests and a pack of the
Zebra Cakes so that he has something to eat along with his friends when we cut the
cake.

This year I emailed LD's PR guy to see if by chance they had ever made a BIG Zebra
Cake. I explained about my son and how much he loved their Zebra Cakes, etc... well,
the guy emailed me back and told me that, no, they had never made Zebra Cakes any
larger than what they sell in the store but that he wanted to send my son something
for his birthday.

Two days before his birthday, a package arrived. In it was a 14-inch plush Ziggy the
Zebra (the Zebra Cakes mascot) and a handwritten birthday card. My son was totally
thrilled.

It's pretty amazing how cool people can be about things like that.

Yeah, I couldn't find a picture set that included the most recent rendition.  I can't say I scoured the corners of the internet looking for one, but I did look for a solid 57 seconds, so I feel pretty good about that.

You don't spend millions of dollars to design a new logo.

You spend millions of dollars to either have a bunch of taste free, soulless hipsters masquerading as graphic designers and "branding" experts talk you into throwing your company's history in the trash with some bullshiat modern thing...

Or you spend that money to have a decent set of smart people talk your idiotic management out of making drastic changes to a classic corporate image.

A pathetic excuse for some overpaid PR/Marketing asshole to justify his/her job. "We NEED to update our logo!"

Change for the sake of change.

Babwa Wawa:Citation needed, subby. TFA said 16 renderings over the course of a year.  $125k per rendering is a pretty steep amount of cash.

Keep in mind, each of those renderings was likely accompanied by a full-day meeting during which a couple dozen Chief Bullshiat Officers and Senior Vice Presidents of Jacking Off all argued with each other about who was more better at designing logos than the actual designers.

Factor in executive salaries, travel, hotels, and expensed meals for everyone involved, and the cost to the company reaches into the millions easily.
