That's nice. We would't want him getting a big ego or anything...

Mock26: So, how exactly does kickstarter work in this situation?  He only "needed" $1,500 to get this off the ground.  So what happens with the $20,000+ left over? Does he get to keep it and blow it on ale and whores?  Or is there some obligation to use it productively in support of his project?

Hookers and blow.

trapped-in-CH: It'd be funny if all the letters looked like genitalia.

It's been done.

I apologize if anybody is offended by this font.

I'd rather have a Jacob Lew typeface.

my boss told me my signature needed to be legible. I showed her an article about his signature and I said if his could look like that and be acceptable so could mine. At least you can see some letters in mine.

Kevin72: robbiex0r: theorellior: Yup, the site's still up, and it looks like no one's updated it since our Grand Redesign (with frames and everything!) in 1997.

No, I had nothing to do with the site design.

Forgive me if I don't feel compelled to buy these fonts...

Also, your Free Font button is broked. :(

Ben Franklin. In dead Presidents?

I think he's referring to the Executive Council of Pennsylvania, of which Franklin was, indeed, President.

Or else it's a joke based on the Jay-Z song which uses the NAS sample.

Ale and whores, just like anyone else who sells a product. If you look, you can see that another font he made -- Conspired Lovers -- costs €29 on his website, whereas Kickstarting the new one only costs $10. If someone wants to buy it anyway, they might as well pre-order it.

I wish I liked the look of the font more, because a really good "handwritten" font with multiple versions of each letter sounds really cool. I can't imagine where I'd use this one, though. Still, good on him for making it!

theorellior: I did a series of handwriting fonts in 1995 and 1996 based on Jeffrey Dahmer, Lee Harvey Oswald and Sirhan Sirhan, among plenty of others. They were called Killerfonts. I think we got a "Yahoo's Best of the Web" banner for our website and maybe a Wired "10Best" rotating anigif.

I remember your site. I think it was on Fark at some point

downstairs: EvilEgg: Why would you need $23K to do this?  It seems like any idiot with a copy of Photoshop could chop up a copy of one of his letters and send it to one of the online make a font services.

Didn't read the article, but I'm thinking the same thing?

I did my handwriting just for fun.  Took like 30 minutes.

Samples?
