I'm so so on the lineup. I had my fingers crossed for Sigur Ros as a headliner.

Hello? I guess it really was him they were looking for...

Lionel Richie recently came out with an album of duets with country artists, so that's probably his excuse.

Meh. They've had better lineups in the past. And Kings of Leon should just give up.

Say what you want about Lionel Richie, but he made seducing and molesting blind girls cool.

I don't know. But what I do know he brought it out of the darkness and told America this is what he was about, and made it possible for others that were about it to publicly show it.

Speaking of blind chicks, I saw this blind Asian chick in her 20's with completely white hair the other day. That may not seem like much to anybody else, but it kind of put me in awe.

And before anybody ask, no I didn't try to seduce and molest her. I was a little too taken back to try.

Are we sure these other bands aren't a memorial service for Lionel Richey?

Looks like a decent line-up, but I wonder how many days it's spread across.

Muse is always touring and/or putting out an album. I've seen them three times just going to see other bands.

I've seen them a few times, and they put on a good show. But, and this has nothing to do with their spike in popularity, I'm sort of "over" them. After Absolution it seems like most of their songs became silly rock operas.

There's always next week. It's not like she would notice you stalking her.

I saw MUSE about a month ago in Las Vegas and they were incredible. I think The 2nd Law is their weakest album but they managed to do all the good songs on that and add enough of the older tracks to make it work. The staging was mind-blowing, the sound was great and they put everything they had in to their playing. As a longtime proghead, a little bombast never hurts and MUSE sure do like them some bombast at times.

The rest of the lineup is pretty typical festival fare, they're all starting to look the same. I think the only band missing is the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Oh, and fark Coachella and their exclusivity deals, I'm not going to go through that hell just to see one or two bands.

All those acts are great to decent. But then they put Muse in there and ruins the whole thing.

Last year. They played a hell of a lot better show than they did at Lolla.

aside like seeming like that was a time warp to the late 1990's that's not so wierd.   It's been a tradition at "alternative" music  festivals to feature one-off the wall old school name.  I think Lollapalooza started it, and I recall back when the late, deeply lamented, WHFS in Dc had thier "HFestivals" they did this agressively.  The one that really stood out was 1995 when they hadTony Bennett headlining alongside the likes of The Ramones, Courtney Love, and Primus

wilco. there's a band i've tried to get into and just really can't. saw them several years ago (sometime around the turn of the century) at rock-am-ring, and they were good, but i just can't get into their albums.

son volt, the other band formed from uncle tupelo's split, is one of my favorite bands. i never understood why they don't get anywhere near the attention wilco gets.

Ditto. I have two of Wilco's albums. One is significantly better than the other. The one time I really enjoyed listening to them was on a drive home from Santa Cruz. I think it was more the experience than the music, but the music did make great accompaniment for the scenery.

Speaking of dumb concert lineups.....

I'd love to see Wilco and My Morning Jacket, but why oh why are they touring with the now-awful Bob "I'm taking your money suckers and I don't give a fark" Dylan? I went to a Dylan show 3/4 years ago and it was sad and embarrassing: he didn't sing the vocal melodies at all, he just did this mumble-mouthed improvising thing while his (great) band just ran through the chord changes; apparently that's still the case.

I mean, when it takes two verses before you recognize a song you've heard hundreds times, there's something wrong. I get it, he's been touring for over 50 years now, he's probably bored to tears with singing some of those songs, but why not dig deeper in to his catalog instead of insulting our musical intelligence? Gah.

As a huge Uncle Tupelo fan from way back when and a fan of both Wilco and Son Volt, I'd say that Son Volt's biggest problem in attaining Wilco-like stature is that they are sinfully boring in concert.  Of the post-Uncle Tupelo albums Jay and Jeff have released, I'd put "Trace" second to only "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot."  My problem has always been seeing Son Volt perform like statues.  It's really kind of weird since Jay was almost always more animated on stage than Jeff when they were in Uncle Tupelo.

BTW, Solid State Vittles my first Uncle Tupelo show was at the old Blue Note, I can't say for sure if it was the Whiskey Bottle show or not, but many more followed.
