I wonder how long before American supporters of Israel who never question anything that country does start to whine for the U.S. to become more involved?

Those people were, by and large, already whining for the US to get involved.

I'm glad he won't. It's not our fight and we shouldn't be involved.

He never should have given his word on this issue to begin with.

At this point, given our current military over-extension, international reputation, and economic situation, it should require some rather extraordinary circumstances to justify U.S. military involvement. I'm thinking nothing short of world stability being at stake (on the levels of World War II), or the U.S. being invaded by a foreign power should we start using our military power again.

We can get involved and will pretty soon here. Only our involvement will be limited to intelligence gathering/sharing and the occasional 18pound warhead from a drone.

^^^THIS^^^ makes so VERY much sense. Of course, that being said, I fully expect the 'world-at-large' to crucify the US for NOT sticking it's military nose in others business......"because".

But seriously, if he or she is implying that Jewish Americans will be the primary fanatical supporters in America for Israel, there are plenty of Evangelical Christians that also support Israel in almost everything it does.

Pretty much; right now, Assad and his allies (read: Hezbollah, Iran) are doing everything they can to keep the regime up.  Israel may have had the right idea in trying to stretch Syrian troops to the breaking point.
