Ah yes, American democracy.

It is a fact that our state Democratic party is an unlaughable joke and couldn't support Elvira in a race for Queen of the Night.  It is a fact that ECB has signifcant DCC and Pelosi PAC funding.

It is furthermore a fact that everyone in SC politics that knows Sanford has abandoned him.

The only people with the organizational skills and motivation to run these campaigns are national groups, because they consider the candidates blue or red "checks in the box" regardless of their actual views.  That being said, would you rather be represented for 19 months by a proven-unethical, life-in-shambles, maybe crazy person nominally of your party or a centrist from the other party?

What special interest group is in favor of creepy, misogynistic douchebags who misappropriate government money for a personal slush fund?

Because neither party wants to having anything to do with this special election. Both candidates suck, the seat will change hands again in a year, and winning the seat changes the legislative math of either party. This wouldn't even be a story if the Democratic candidate wasn't the sister of a TV star.

The Christian Right?

NewsFlash - All effective lobbying groups headquarter themselves in and around DC because that's where all the work gets done. Even if they were dedicated to SC interests, or the district's interests, they'd still be headquartered in DC.

Oh noes! Political action groups are taking political action! What is the world coming to?!

Campaigns require resources, kids. If you don't like the outcomes of elections, perhaps you should donate more time or money of your own.

...or just sit there and pout.

You quit talking about the House right now.

So vote Republican?

WTF Indeed: Because neither party wants to having anything to do with this special election.

The D.C.-based Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has so far spent the most during the South Carolina special election

It's only bad when "they" do it.

You have to tell me who "they" are before I can agree with you or mercilessly mock you and insult your intelligence for supporting "them".

Looking at that picture, if you think Sanford is prettier than Colbert Busch, does that mean you're gay?

Meanwhile, Democrats have been fighting the Citizens United decision, while Republicans don't think it goes far enough. I guess both sides are bad though.

FTFA: Independent Women's Voice, a conservative 501(c)(4) nonprofit group based in the nation's capital, has proved to be Sanford's strongest outside advocate

Help me out here. Seriously. Why on Earth would a collective group of women advocate for a man who abandoned his family so he could sneak off and dishonor his wife by tossing his marriage vows in the garbage to run around with his mistress? I just don't get it.

Remember they also changed the Department of War to the Department of Defense.

Let's see... Leadership...Heather R. Higgins has held senior positions in numerous right-wing foundations, including the Randolph Foundation, the Smith Richardson Foundation, the Independent Women's Forum, and the Philanthropy Roundtable.

Before Higgins' 1991 entry into the non-profit sector, she worked as a Wall Street portfolio manager for seven years, eventually attaining the position of vice president of U.S. Trust before it became a subsidiary of the Charles Schwab Corporation. On February 3, 2006, she was elected to be a Director and Trustee of sixteen of UBS's registered investment companies, which consisted of thirty-six mutual funds as of January 2007.

Make of it what you will.
