That was a not-so-good penalty call but the Canucks were playing dirty all series long so the refs were on the lookout for dirty play from the Canucks. Oh well, Sharks win!!! Hopefully they can rest up and be ready for the next round while their opponent gets worn down in a long series.

desertgeek: thisiszombocom: so who do sharks fans want to play next? LA?

They either get Chicago or Anaheim or St. Louis (if CHI or ANA lose). They could get Detroit if CHI and ANA lose.

I need to rephrase this...

If CHI and ANA win- SJ gets CHI
If either CHI or ANA lose- SJ gets STL/LA winner, CHI/MIN winner gets ANA/DET winner
If both CHI and ANA lose- SJ gets DET, STL/LA winner gets MIN

4NSpy: That was a normal hit and wingers just happened to fall funny into the boards. Pretty weak for an OT call. They don't call stuff like garrison's stick getting chopped in two, fine thats OT hockey, but then to call that?

They didn't call the Canuck mug job at centre ice in OT either, that was BLATANT interference.

Wengels didn't have the puck and was in the no-no zone for the hit.

Sucks for Canucks fans, but what were your chances in that series down 3-0 anyway?

As I stated before the game, I already accepted the series as a loss and saw no chance at a comeback, but I was really enjoying that overtime period. I know you don't want to see Vancouver win, but longer series are always better in the playoffs. Last year wasn't as great with LA just rolling through everyone.

That's the one bit of good news so far- there's a lot more series that just feel like they'll go 7. PIT-NYI feels that way. ANA-DET and STL-LA just feel destined to go 7. I can't see anyone just going off like LA did last year. That was a once in a lifetime type of run.

Secretly hoping Anaheim can win their series, along with Chicago finishing off Minnesota. Only to see Raffi Torres come back to Chicago for the first time since last year's playoffs

The Canucks didn't deserve to win, period.

Game 2 was a heartbreaker, I'll give you that. A last minute tying goal and 1 mistake in OT and they lose. That's rough.

But tonight, the Sharks were at their best. They got behind, but climbed back and the OT was utterly Sharks DOMINATED.

Is a long series better? Sometimes. But this one was going long. I mean, you could see how bad San Jose wanted to end it. They just weren't letting up.

Kinda feels like the Islanders are massively overachieving, or Pittsburgh was already looking past them, but Fleury's got a bad habit of getting lit up. I can't see any signs of Toronto getting back in their series, unless they decide to go full goon. Washington / NYR seems to hang on what Ovi or Lundqvist do. Both Minnesota and Montreal are done without goaltending. But Ducks/Wings and Blues/Kings are a 7  game pick 'em.

They gave Daniel a game misconduct after the game ended for abusive language. If I was in his skates, I would've done the same thing. The ref who called that (from center ice) screwed Vancouver. I hope he's not working again after tonight.

Yeah, the Isles are overachieving. But they seem to be playing with a "what have we got to lose" attitude. And really, if you're an 8 seed; you've got to look at last year and what LA did and think "it can be done." And as I said yesterday, Fleury seems to entering the Luongo zone.

Snaps: Alright Wings & Kings, you have one job

Yesterday it looked like the Kings got their groove back.  They played like ass for 3 games and still made it close, but sometime in game 4 they figured out how to play like the Kings again and StL couldn't find a way to keep up.  It's a best-of-3 series now, and I think the Kings can do it.

Late as always to this epic thread.

-eff the Pens, the Isles taking them out in 6 would be goddamn fantastic.
-Mtl / Ottawa is better than I thought it would be.   Both this and the Isles game tonight were great.
-it won't surprise me at all to see the B's lose in 7 against the Leafs, though we are playing better now than we did all last month.

Talk radio saying Sutherland is the ref that gave Daniel 2 minutes for being punched by Marchand and the only ref to give Daniel 4 minutes of penalties in a game in the regular season. Also Sutherland asked for this series.

Sutherland was also the guy that gave a penalty to AV earlier in the year (vs the flames game).

The press tried to get AV to say something nasty in the post game presser but AV wasn't having any of that. I really don't like sports media, always trying to goad people into soundbites.

I really liked when TSN had Bissonnette on their playoff panel a couple years ago. I wonder if he said something that the brass didn't like so they won't invite him back. Or maybe TSN lost him to the states like they lost Jay and Dan.

Was just listening to some callers while driving home, lots of "Blow up the team, fire AV, fire Gillis", the best was the wasted guy who couldn't pronounce Bieska. "Trade biessa" and the host cuts him off with "Try and learn their names before you call in".

Crashed hard about halfway through the Vancouver/Sharks game... Still sick as a dog.

But, man, do I feel much better this morning... Especially after finding out the Canucks got swept.

Though, the best moment of the night for me was watching the Habs Management Team walk away in disgust after watching the Sens go up 3 games to 1.

The Islanders winning was fun, too.

No for the important stuff...

RminusQ: Overtime, series-winning goal Sharks!
VAN 3-4 SJS (OT +13:18)
San Jose Sharks win series 4-0. Sharks advance to Conference Semifinals vs Blackhawks, Blues, Kings, or Red Wings.

Goddamit I fell asleep sometime before the Blackhawks' 3rd goal. Sharks vs. any of the above will be a great series.

While I'm glad Chicago got the win, I have to say Kuemper only allowing two goals against arguably the best team in the NHL deserves some admiration. The kid certainly has a future: his stats are impressive and he'll be a RFA next year.

I recorded that and will attempt to GIF it, love the hand motion. I also have the Subban "Who, me?" moment recorded.

I think I'm seeing a potential life altering trend. Let me study it out for you.
Three years in a row, the team that beat the Vancouver Canucks has won the Stanley Cup.

In 2010 it was the Chicago Blackhawks in the Conference Semifinal round
In 2011 it was the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup Finals.
In 2012 it was the Los Angeles Kings in the Conference Quarterfinal round.

This must mean it's the Sharks year. The facts don't lie. You can draw a straight line from point A to point B.
