Procedural hypocrisy, for your entertainment here.

2013-05-07 08:56:25 AM
What's he been doing his entire career as Majority leader then?

2013-05-07 09:30:28 AM
It's always nice to see Reid occasionally show a spine. Wish he'd do it way, WAY more often.

2013-05-07 09:30:57 AM
Right, Cruz wants a promise to cripple the nation's economy.

2013-05-07 09:32:10 AM
The GOP is running scared from this budget and they send Ted farking Cruz out to tangle with Reid?

2013-05-07 09:32:35 AM
Cruz in October: NO FEMA for Sandy victims.
Cruz in April: We need FEMA in Texas, stat!

2013-05-07 09:32:36 AM
Cruz is a total shiatweasel.

HotWingConspiracy: The GOP is running scared from this budget and they send Ted farking Cruz out to tangle with Reid?

He's their shining star du jour! Would you rather they sent Rubio?

2013-05-07 09:35:44 AM
It has been quite evident to everyone except the truly brainwashed that obstructing the budget was the only being done by the GOP for political maneuvering.  Like always, the party that has shunned intellect in their leaders has been outsmarted.

Nah, Rubio is old news since he doesn't advocate putting all immigrants onto the first boat to not America.

2013-05-07 09:37:04 AM
Big Government money... for my state?  It's more hypocritical than you think.

2013-05-07 09:37:19 AM
...so his objection stands and no budget negotiations will happen, correct? Just calling him a bully doesn't suddenly nullify his procedural right to disrupt all Senate business for any reason he deems fit.

I figured it would be an old salt, not this idiot that's going to run out of steam when his umbrage politics gimmick fades.

Ted Cruz is bad for Texas.

2013-05-07 09:37:58 AM
I want to see Cruz's suggestion of how to cut the budget to require zero deficit spending going forward, because that's what he is suggesting. The earliest even the most radical budget proposals from either side place a balanced budget is about 10 years out.

Oh who am I kidding? He's just cynical enough to know it polls well to demand a balanced budget despite it being completely impossible (hint: unless you can run the rest of the budget on about $70 bil you have to cut HHS, SSA, or the defense budget. And no, defunding "Obamacare" doesn't do crap about lessening the HHS budget.)

2013-05-07 09:38:34 AM
I just watched the embedded video from CSPAN. So hilarious. I bet Ted Cruz is fuming that Harry Reid called him a tempestuous child.

2013-05-07 09:40:53 AM
Also, is it just me, or did the guy running the Senate look like he was sick and tired of Ted Cruz asking to speak?

The embedded video doesnt work for me. Anyone got a different link?

Was that a veiled "Cruz has no balls" jab (ca. 2:40)?

Can we do away with the myth that Conservatives are "fiscally conservative."

They're fiscally irresponsible as all hell.

Serious Black: Also, is it just me, or did the guy running the Senate look like he was sick and tired of Ted Cruz asking to speak?

Of course, because Ted Cruz does it all the damn time and for reasons of self-indulgence/PR rather than making arguments that actually have any real impact on the body he's making it to (granted, that's true of most Senate speachifying, but Cruz manages to piss off both sides with his arguments you know he is smart enough not to believe.)

Put it another way: Reid would take listening to Rand Paul for 3 hours over listening to Ted Cruz for 3 minutes.

That seemed pretty evident.

Unfortunately Ted Cruz is derpy enough that he will probably end up staying where he is for a few election cycles and filthying up the Senate like a well-scrubbed stain of puppy shiat on your new carpet.

Thanks Texas....

Ted Cruz is somewhat of a puzzle for me.  Obviously, he is a smart guy.  He has to be.  Look at this resume, it is very impressive.  But then, he says some of the stupidest things imaginable.  I want to think that he is just pandering to his base.  But it doesn't take high level intelligence to do that.  I would think that a capable guy like Ted Cruz would find a way to get what he wanted without having to resort to that.  But then again, he is obviously just plain evil.  Just a big old fat headed, mean spirited GOP shiat bag.  Looking over his resume again I can't see any case or cause he has championed that actually did anything positive for anyone outside of the NRA or Big Oil or Jesus H. Christ Inc.

Pretty much but, unfortunately, until the Senate successfully does away with this bullshiat procedure there's not much more anybody can do. Until it's no more, dickheads like Cruz will continue to be able to abuse it to their heart's content for the sole purpose of throwing a temper tantrum at not getting their way.

Someone's gotta claim the label of fiscal responsibility, so if it's not the GOP, it's the Democrats. Everyone knows the Democrats are the furthest thing from fiscal responsibility; when they introduce new spending, they want to raise revenue to pay for it instead of borrowing! Crazy, right?

As much as it's a tired cliche, I keep falling back to the idea that he's Andy Kaufman or thinks he is and is continually just shiatting himself in public as some sort of live Poe's Law performance.  Evil is also probable; this horseshiat certainly pays the bills.

He's a pompous extremist. He's the type of person who believes he has all the answers and that there can be no compromise on them. It's not that he isn't smart, it's that he's extraordinarily biased and self-important so he refuses to acknowledge that when you're working in a body tasked with governing a large number of people from differing ethnic, economic and social backgrounds that sometimes you have to give up some of what you want in exchange for getting some of what you want. He refuses to acknowledge that anybody's experiences are different from his own and as a result refuses to attempt to understand how other people might come to conclusions on an issue that differ from his own.

He earnestly believes his way is the only way and he acts accordingly: like a complete dick.

He has to win the entire state, not just the derpy parts. Between Austin, Houston, and more voting Hispanics - I don't think his position is guaranteed for life.

Given that a senate budget had for years never developed a budget to place up for a vote for the previous couple of years... yes it was the dems in the senate that refused to produce a budget.  Granted this does not absolve the repubs for the chicanery they are pulling now.

But they will take money from those who can afford it. I know you can't right now, but some day, if you work really really hard, you too will be wealthy like them! And then you'd have to pay taxes, and all those democrats will just give what they take from you in taxes to brown people or single moms or young gangsters who listen to Floppy Biscuits or whatever.

Better if you just keep electing rich people so they can help other rich people. After all, it's an investment. An investment in your future. See you at the country club, someday. When you've worked hard enough.
