What people frustrated with a tablet may look like.

It has to be one of the strangest ad campaigns I've ever seen. The Windows Phone ad shows what their two competitors do well (sharing for Samsung, Siri for Apple) and all they show their phone doing is them scrolling the screen (wow). But that doesn't compare to the tablet ads.

Apple tablet. You do things like this on it in real life.

The Surface tablet just looks so exhausting in the commercials.  I don't want to be clicking and snapping and break dancing....I just want to watch cat videos on YouTube.

likefunbutnot: I've been recommending the Ainol Novo Venus 7. $125 for a 16GB, 1280x800 7" IPS tablet that has fully Google Play support.

I've been trying to sell my wife on the idea of an Ainol 7", but she doesn't seem open to it.

He's got a point.  The Surface hardly frustrates anybody.

/Because hardly anybody is buying them

A few years ago, a Microsoft AutoUpdate broke a particular piece of chemical-analysis software that is present in essentially every university and private-company lab, called INCA, used for SEM and TEM chemical analysis.  Users world-wide were unable to use their often $2M+ instruments for chemical analysis, because the "update" broke functionality.  Millions of $$$ wasted in lost productivity, hassling the instrument manufacturer (Oxford Instruments), and in scientific-staff time wasted trying to resolve the screw-up.  Did MS pay for a nickel of these several days of wasted productivity?  Nope.

/CSB #2
I've had overnight scans on scientific instruments fail due to MS Auto-updates.  That is, expensive experiments in terms of my hourly usage charges.  Why?  Well, Auto-update force-quits every application and restarts the computer that is controlling the expensive instrument.  All data collected was lost, but I was still charged for instrument-time, and had to do the whole experiment again from the start later on.  So, eventually, yes, I gained access to the Admin account and disabled Auto-update, but that is a Band-Aid applied after the fact.

MS has cost me and countless other researchers millions of dollars in lost productivity due to their stupid Windows-system policies.

I found your problem.
You are too stupid to turn off auto-updates.
My car has cruise control, but I dont use it while parking.

seriously, you leave a retarded feature turned on and then complain that the feature works the way it is expected to work?

Gnaglor: Why do people still think Gates makes decisions for Microsoft?

Probably because he's a chairman at the company?

Abe Vigoda's Ghost: Lucky LaRue: teto85: $ound$ like a per$onal problem.

Is that really still a thing?  Making fun of Microsoft for having a lot of money?  You do know, don't you, that Apple has $145 billion on its books (versus the $60 billion on Micro$oft's)?

Yeah but you can't use the '$' sign when you spell Apple. So where's the fun in that?

I think they took the Apple idea with iPad (don't tell people how to use it; just give them a product and let them figure out its purpose) way too far.  "Hey, it's a tablet, that's all you need to know! Catchy music! Dancing! Won't someone please pay attention to this commercial!!!! Microsoft!!!!"

Well I for one am shocked, SHOCKED I SAY, that a person who's company is in direct competition with Apple would say they don't like Apple products.
