Killed a spider?

I'd put that in the win column

2013-05-06 10:28:20 AM
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals President Ingrid Newkirk issued a statement saying Christie probably killed it without thinking

Oh ffs.

Just revenge for Hanneman, I bet.

Little Chris Christie
Sat there obesely
Having eaten a recent buffet
Along came a spider
Who sat down beside him
And I KILLED THE farkING THING. THE END. YOU GOTTA PROBLEM WITH THAT?

Hey PETA?

This is why no one likes you.

He would never eat a spider.  it's too small.

Depending on size, relative scariness and proximity to heavy metal guitarist, I try not to kill spiders.

But if I see a PeTA member crawling across my desk I swat those motherfarkers with the biggest book I can find.

I lol'd cuz he's fat

ManateeGag: He would never eat a spider.  it's too small.

Are you kidding me?  Do you seriously think, with the way Christie shovels food into that gaping maw of his, that a few dozen spiders a week aren't going to accidentally get swallowed without him even noticing?

/kinda do like the guy

This... I mean, I don't blame anyone for swatting a spider, but, if you can, and I usually try to, I generally try to just throw them back outside if I find one in the house.  They are pretty important, especially if you don't like other bugs being around, since they are the major predator of other bugs.

Spiders are one of the few I don't kill because they're good for the garden. Those stink bugs on the other hand take a ride with the Tidy-Bowl Man.

Kind of depends on what spider it is.  Some are pretty bad news and should be stomped immediately.  Others are good to have around as they reduce the other bug population.

He swallowed the spider to catch the fly. I don't know why he swallowed the fly.

Ask PETA how many dogs and cats they kill each year....then when they refuse to answer tell them to STFU.

If we aren't supposed to eat animals, then why are they made out of meat?

Figured there'd be a lot of Hanneman references in this thread.

I'll never understand you people who don't kill spiders.  I get that they're important.  They're also ABUNDANT.  There is no shortage of spiders in this world who will be happy to keep your garden pest free.  For every one you see, there are thousands waiting in the shadows...
Watching...
Plotting...

Is it a scandal yet?

Ugh those things are awful!  One was hiding under my faucet spigot the other day and landed on my toothbrush when I turned the water on!  And it was pissed, so you know what happened next...

I like Christie. He's a no BS kind of guy, he often shoots from the lip (and many times he's right), he's much more moderate than many republicans, and he's not afraid to say nice things about dems or democratic ideas.

\That said, he's still kinda doochie

2013-05-06 12:01:39 PM
I don't see the fear with a regular spider but a brown recluse or hobo spider? Forget it. GIS necrotic arachidnism.

And those hobo spiders move faster than your eye can track, it's freaky.

I've had various types of wasp* turn up in my room and bathroom in the past couple of days.  I tried to shoo one out the door to the deck and it got stuck under the threshold.  For all I know it's still there.

Other one got flicked into the toilet by cunning sleight of hand.  He didn't want to go on the ride, and I felt bad watching him struggle in the water, so I gave him a coup de grace against the side of the bowl with the toilet brush handle.  farker was sturdy.  Took considerable crushing before he stopped twitching.

Some spiders I kill, and some (like the dock spiders up at the cottage) I just back away from slowly, apologizing for bothering them.

Actually very few indoor spider species can live outside. They're not equipped for it. If you want them ot actually Live, put them in the garage or the basement or your shed or something.

A few years ago, CNN.com ran a main-page headline story about Obama swatting a fly.  That was the last day I went to CNN for my news.

I'm in the live and let live camp when it comes to spiders in the house. As others have said, I figure they keep the other insects at bay.

Back when we had a tree frog, we used to put them in his habitat.  They lived fine there.

Good to know. I've just always thought that they're good to have around to keep the bugs at a minimum.

Drawing criticism from PETA doesn't qualify as "under fire", it's more like being accosted by a urine-soaked hobo while walking downtown.

Does anyone remember when Obama was being taunted by a fly?   He snached it out of flight,  and gloated   " got ya, sucker".
PETA  was outraged then too, IIRC.

I found this beast in the yard yesterday after I ran over his area with the lawnmower. I don't like spiders, but I try to give them the benefit of the doubt (especially if they're outside). I trapped him and carried him over to a nearby pond... with giant gardening gloves on, and my wife with me in case he made any moves - hope he enjoys his new waterfront home. And doesn't come for blood.
