While these first round games are generally great, I think I like the later rounds a bit better.  Now you are pretty much guaranteed 3+ games per night, every night which is great.  But later on with only 1-2 a night at most there is time to actually watch them without bouncing back & forth between games.  Also there's time to sit there after & reflect on the game rather than racing to the next one.

Someone remind me of this post in a few weeks when I'm complaining about there not being hockey on every night the way it was a few weeks before....

/ok Ducks, time to put the Wings on the ropes so that you can close it out at home on Wed.

I wish the Islanders had won yesterday, but they put up a good fight and I'm pretty happy with the results of the other games. Particularly the Sens/Habs and Sharks/Canucks.

Any word on disciplinary actions on the Sens/Habs? I'm not a Sens fan, but damn, it was enjoyable watching them get the better of the Canadiens last night. I want to see Neal take on the entire Canadien roster next game. : )

I'd imagine Subban might get something for instigating after the line brawl, maybe a game, but that's all. Possibly more public fines for the misconducts, and a strict warning for the next game that will be summarily ignored.

The best part of the night was the Sens' timeout with 17 seconds left. That just added so much more fuel between the coaches that will escalate this from "overly rough playoff series" to "rivalry that won't be soon forgotten".

A quick spin through the Canadian sports media would suggest no.
And watching those two teams beat each other up makes me feel a little like this guy:

Game 4 tomorrow night should be fun!

I loved it... especially when the Habs started acting like a bunch of babies over it. "Wahhhhhh he called a timeout!"

Then Therrien has the nerve to call MaClean "Classless" after the pathetic display his player put on that night... Not to mention one of them referring to MaClean as a "fat, bug-eyed walrus" or something like that a day before.

Yeah, the Habs are all class.

Anyway, yeah, should make for a good Game 4, that's for sure.

Also, I love that there are 4 Northeast teams in the first round. (Sorry Buffalo)

It fits the bill though. His mustache is awe inspiring.

I hope the Bruins play more like they did in Game 1 tonight. Saturday they seemed to be going through the paces and plodding along. Frustrating is an understatement, just like the regular season, lights out dominant one night, planning the best way to get to the bingo parlor the next.

Ugh... Yeah, it's the inconsistency that's making me less than optimistic about their chances this year.

In 2011, they played every game like Game 1. Not so much this year. I hope they find their groove, though.

I love the alternate names, like manitobathunder and novascotiahail.

If I had some extra money, I'd TF every hockey regular. If I had lots of extra money, I'd get anyone who'd go seats at a game.

Yeah, same here. It's all in good fun... I do love to shiat-talk, but some folks take sports way too seriously, though. For instance, if you're getting into fist fights over a hockey game. Saw that at the Garden a couple of seasons ago when the Habs were in town. So farking lame. I guess Sports has always had that weird dichotomy of family/kid friendly event and free-for-all of drunken louts and bullies.

This thread is up early, as am I.  Hospitals will do that to you.  At least I'm out of ICU.  13 hours yesterday.  Nurses kept asking what the hell I was doing.  I've got a CT scan on my liver today. because apparently pneumonia and blood clots aren't enough for me.  I'll be back by game time though to offer drug fueled commentary.  Go BOS, NY, STL, and an arena implosion in DET.

BTW: Cannucks are 0-7 against the Sharks this season.  It is a goal tending problem Alain.

I would have been Farking from the ER on Friday, but since I was taken in an ambulance, I couldn't bring my laptop, and my phone was almost dead.  Had to wait until Saturday for my wife to bring my laptop and phone charger.  Had to ask a nurse to find out who won the Sharks game.

You don't seem to have the best of luck when it comes to medical issues, happy to hear you got out of the ICU.

I don't think it's just a goaltending problem, the Canucks can't seem to score anymore. They really aren't the same team they were two years ago, last year went the same way.

There are two things to say, for the last two years the Canucks have lost to the team that went on to win the cup, I hope that streak continues.

No shiat.  Going all the way back to '98.  It's been one thing after another.

But you're right, it's not just goaltending.  Seems like there are quite a few guys *cough* Sedins *cough*  who don't show up for the big games. Whereas, the Sharks show up, they just choke.

I went in thinking you were being sarcastic....

That's the second sign of the apocalypse.  The first was DG and OL actually agreeing on a topic yesterday(!)  Of course, it was Sydney *ahem* embellishing in overtime, so we might need a ruling on that one.
