And as far as this kid is concerned - he's farked.  He likes bad movies.

Well he's probably already read my review of Rainman several times.  Has he seen Mercury Rising?

Dear Weslee,

There's a beautiful movie with a character that shares your name. He grows into a rich and powerful man who gives up everything for love.

I hope you enjoy the film. It's called The Princess Bride.

P.S. How do you feel about pirates? You never know. There may be a vacancy someday.

what if hundreds of people sent him movies from the future to mess with his shiat; to make him think he was under for over a year. " Hey remember Iron Man 4? I can't believe The Hulk was Tony Stark's brother!" "man, summer of '14 kicked ass... looking forward to Fast and the Furious 8 and Ocean's 14 next year"

Possibly nothing, though it's an odd coincidence that deserves some digging.  Apparently a number of seizure conditions start manifesting right around puberty.

My favorite movie of all time is Pulp Fiction. The best movie ever made is The Godfather Parts 1 & 2 (It's one long extended narrative, I consider them combined to be one film.) Other great ones inclue One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Terminator 2, Casablanca, Back to the Future, Empire Strikes Back, Jurassic Park, Rocky, and Airplane.

I wish they let him talk. The reporter filled in a whole lot of blanks for the audience, "the movies stop him from feeling stuff, for only a few hours". How cliche.

The mom was the one saying his life is terrible and that he needs the surgery because "it's not a way to live a life". That's her opinion.
Brain surgery is serious stuff. I hope she fully recognizes that.
I hope the surgeries go well.

They may not be related. It could be they've thought he was retarded, for instance, and only got an autism diagnoses two years ago; meanwhile, the brain tumor causing the seizures got big enough to cause seizures two years ago at about the same time.

Or he's been having absence seizures or undiagnosed petit mal seizures all this time--causing a diagnosis of something besides autism--and not until his first grand mal did the doctors figure it out.

The brain is a weird thing, and they still don't know what's going on in there; especially if the owner can't communicate enough to tell the doctors what's wrong.

Not to be that stoner that thinks weed cures everything, but have they tried pot. Epilepsy is one of the conditions were pot can have a very positive effect. I've meet several people who have went from multiple pills with daily seizures to little or no medication and almost no seizures (once a month to a year period) while on pot.

A whole lot. I'm also very concerned that he only has grand mal seizures when leaving the house, but not due to other activities. This kid needs a different neuro assessment team. This kid also needs (I'm so sorry to say this) someone to watch that mother. The boy NEVER SPEAKS in the article, and the article was started by...his mom contacting the news (as stated IN the article).

I'm sorry I just find the whole thing really farking weird. Here's the brain surgeries for epilepsy so you guys can see they are all serious farking business.  http://www.webmd.com/epilepsy/surgical-options-epilepsy

I've *never* heard of an epileptic who only seized after going outside. And since his seizures can be triggered, why aren't they triggering them in hospital to test?

Again, sorry I hate to be someone who's like 'omg this is wrong'....but something is REALLY wrong here. Or that article is missing a ton of information.

How about some documentaries?

Anything with Richard Attenborough
Rick Steve's Europe

How about somebody get this young man the entire 11 years of Bob Ross's The Joy of Painting. Maybe he'll start painting and have some special autistic savant abilities and have a show, and be reintroduced to the world.

Is the family going to be reading this thread?

Or he started having the seizures and so went and got checked out, and that was when they realized he was autistic.

In fairness it's not at all uncommon for some autistic spectrums to be diagnosed in teen years, such as aspergers. But...it still seems really weird to me. I sincerely hope I'm completely wrong.

For some reason I recently visited the page "Tina Fey Nose Job". Maybe he would like to be sent excerpts from there. It starts off fairly normally as a biography, though maybe machine translated from English to Chinese and back.
