Digitalstrange: Pelvic Splanchnic Ganglion: Why anyone continues to pay actual money for any concert, knowing full well that it will most likely be lip-synced is beyond my comprehension.  Seriously, if you just want recorded music played at you, just go buy the album on iTunes and save yourself some cash.

Depends on who you listen to, but if you are going to a pop show with a singer who dances around onstage in a choreographed show then they are going to have to lip synch. Remembering a complicated dance routines every step and the lyrics to a song all while trying to breathe regularly enough to do both just aint gonna happen.

But actors in Broadway musicals do it all the time.  Sometimes multiple times per night, 6-7 nights a week.  Paying $50 to see a "singer" lip sync to a CD of his music is a pure rip off.

If a "performer" can't sing and dance then get the fark off the stage.

I want to hate Bieber for being an untalented hack but, let's face it - it's a (meta)talent to successfully feign talent AND win the adoration of millions.

unlikely: I love how he just kept going, didn't miss a note, didn't miss a beat. The man is a true professional.

A professional WHAT, though?

Came here to say this, I saw an actor perform a very involved song and dance during Wicked.

I think Pink is one of the few pop stars that still legitimately sings while dancing, or in this case, performing trapeze stunts.

Incredible. Unless she recorded a breathy, strained backing vocal track, that's her. I can respect that.

I remember going to see NIN live a few decades ago and wondering why I didn't just find out the song listing and sit at home with my CD player programmed while filling my apartment with a smoke machine.

Dhabu: After a bit of quick Googling, I've found several lists/articles of artists who do/did lip-synch and/or autotune...I wonder if someone could compile a list of artists who don't?

Effects in the studio are one thing, but live, I expect the artist to be actually making the music I'm hearing. I'd like to see artists who do, get some props for it.

If you are talking about "effects" in the sense of reverb, compression, gating, etc. DigiDesign mixing consoles used for live sound reinforcement run in part on Pro Tools. Any software effect you'd use in the studio can be used live. In the case of Beiber he uses studio stems and alternate lead vocal tracks- he can back out of a live vocal and FOH switches him to the track vocal. Since the whole stage band is playing along with the tracks it isn't readily apparent when he goes memorex.

Someone went to jail and has to explain to other inmates that they attacked Justin Bieber.  Well, as long as they don't mention that they failed so hard as it didn't even interrupt the "song" that Bieber was preforming, they should be treated as a hero in the jail.

Amnestic: That piano seemed very bouncy.

Yeah, I thought so, too. Are modern show pianos really that light, or was it just a stage prop?

Was Bieber injured or killed in the attack? No? Then yeah, Fail tag is appropriate.

I think Bieber was in far more danger of injury from those security guards than the fan who ran onstage.

Snotnose: How do we get Al-Bahir and/or the rebels to provide some Sarin gas?

/ Don't really want to gas the Beeb
// crappy music has always been around
/// He's just the modern version of the Osmonds

That's an unfair comparison. What did the Osmonds ever do to you?
