Oh, right, the dairy lobby was the high bidder.

I don't know what planet the person who wrote this article is on, but trying to sanitize things with water at below 160 at all (let alone 110-120) isn't going to work.    Basic food safety.

We eat other animal's food all the time. I would suppose that works because of our common origin.

Oh, so you're one of those Commies who think kids don't belong to their parents?

I think it's kind of ironic; if the libertarian crowd wants to right to eat shiat that might give them the supertrots, by all farking means.  However, if they give it to little kids who could get farking dead from food poisoning more easily than my old ass and don't have the authority to consent... not so good.

Chug it up, Rand Paul ReLOVEutionaries.  We'll let nature decide it.

If the raw milk producers didn't vaccinate their cows, the cows would have had strong enough immune systems to kill the bacteria before it ended up in their milk.

Raw milk people are generally anti-vaxxers, too.

Soon they'll be fighting for the right to pour sewage in the street.

Oh, wait, the "elimination communication" people are already working on that.

Fun fact: campylobacter is infectious. If "stupid" didn't include splash damage I'd share your sentiment.

That's the problem with libertarianism in general: The willful unawareness that your choices and actions can effect other people.

As long as you buy from a local, organic dairy, raw milk is no more dangerous than the flavorless, chemical-filled corporate puss they sell at Wal-Mart.

/or so my hippie friends tell me
//I'm skeptical, and I like the taste of vitamin D milk, so no raw milk for me

"In January 2013, the UK's Food Standards Agency warned that two-thirds of all raw chicken bought from UK shops was contaminated with campylobacter, affecting an estimated half a million people annually and killing approximately 100."

That being said, if you ever get a chance to drink raw milk from an established raw milk producer, take it.  It's worth the risk, because it tastes like the nectar of the gods compared to processed milk, which thereafter tastes like chalk in water.  Raw milk is incredibly, gourmet delicious.

2013-05-05 07:47:54 PM
Pffft, idiots.

Animal products should always be cooked so that we don't die from diseases we took care of when we first invented fire.

I like my milk pasteurized, eggs completely solid, and steaks well-done. All a part of living a healthy life.

Not only do I enjoy other animals' milk, I've been known to enjoy the delicious adductor muscles of bivalve molluscs raw, with a dash of lemon. The world is a marvellous place.

Yeah, my food inspector biologist friend warned me off fresh raw milk.  I will eat raw milk cheese though, and as often as possible.

This. We even score extra douchey-hipster points by making our own chocolate syrup to go in our raw milk.

Stick to aged cheeses, otherwise you're getting exposed to the same risks as raw milk. Raw cheddar is  awesome, though.

Amazing how Humanity survived drinking milk for thousands of years before Pasteur came along and ruined everything!!!

Now if you were drinking milk from cows properly loaded to their eyelids with antibiotics you wouldn't have these issues, amirite?

Right.  Those ancient Scandinavians knew all about vitamins.

People started drinking milk when they were born.  They liked it so they got more from animals when Moms cut them off.
