Sorry, but our Republican governor is WAY stupider than yours. This is because of his lack of education, inability to think for himself and... some third thing...

Why do I get the feeling the blue states are going to end up bailing out the petulant red-state whiners...again?

to be honest, why?
why not screw the red states?

It would be funny and hilarious to be able to compare and contrast health care by state and voting position

The day health care in america changes - forever.
Insurers are prohibited from discriminating against or charging higher rates for any individual based on gender or pre-existing medical conditions.[104]
Insurers are prohibited from establishing annual spending caps.[42]
You will be able to get and keep insurance and you are covered no matter how sick you get.
Finally, America will enter the ranks of first world healthcare. For all Americans. You know, First World.

I'm pleased to see this.

Nevada is my home state, and we might be a little crazy libertarian about some things, but we usually get it right most of the time.

I've worked at my school for 7 years and was kept just under full-time so I couldn't get benefits.  (I'm a specials teacher so not certified but considered an assistant).  I've been wanting to go back to school to get my license but just haven't had the finances to do it.  I was going to look for another job this summer that would give me benefits but I can't ever imagine not working with children.  Our assistant superintendent of finances told us on Friday that they're cutting all the other assistants hours but paying them more to make up for the loss so they can't qualify for benefits.  He said since my job is too vital they can't cut or eliminate my position and that next school year I'll be receiving benefits.  I seriously started crying like a pussy and hugged the man.

So without any sense of irony: Thanks, Obama!

The number of people which I personally know, who are literally dying and will finally get access to healthcare. "Sorry, you don't qualify for disability, you are unemployed, you have no money and no insurance. So just go the ER when it gets to bad or beg family and friends for help."

Missouri has a Democrat for Governor but a Republican Legislature. We're making the Feds fund our system.

But I've already known that the legislators here were morons.

/Term Limits only seems to put more morons to power here in MO more than anything else

Except for the part where everything conservatives said would happen so far... has happened, and nothing liberals said would happen... Has happened... ObamaCare is doing just great.

And by doing great I mean its screwing up everything, which is precisely what it was designed to do.

I hope someday the Dems actually get a strong enough majority in Congress to screw over the socialist red states.  They should band together and not pass any bill that includes money for states that insist on having the federal government pick up the tab for their Randian public policy.

2013-05-05 02:40:31 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but states aren't being given the ability to "opt out" of Obamacare.  They simply have the option to organize their own insurance exchange or let their residents use the Federal exchange.  These states that are "opting out" by not setting up their own exchange are really just giving the Federal government more control over their state, no?  You'd think the red states would be doing all they can to keep things in-state as much as possible.

I've driven through rural Missouri.  I can't imagine people there electing anything but morons.

So the blue states will remain more educated and become distinctly healthier as well. The red states will continue to see education and access to preventative healthcare shrivel. This should end well.

I don't know but it is awful and heartbreaking.  It should not be this farking hard to get health insurance at an affordable cost.  It just should not be.  I will never understand how anyone can oppose its own citizens from being able to see a doctor without mortgaging the house.  Shameful.

So we have government-run death panels, government-funded health insurance for dogs, tens of millions of doctors quitting across the country, mandated abortions, churches being forced to pay for contraception, and the complete and utter collapse of the US economy driving us back into the Dark Ages and triggering the invasion of the US by foreign militaries?  Huh, I would have thought that would have gotten at least a little news coverage.

Plain and simple.

Why else does the right vilify every welfare user as some sort of drug abusing leach on society?

If you look at poverty, obesity, illiteracy rates and political affiliation you will find a lot of overlap of red (assuming red means bad on the non-political ones).

it would be utopia.
No earmarks. PERIOD. WHoops ... but we are a RED STATE!!! WE NEED OUR EARMARKS!!!
Maximum funding/revenue ratio of say 1.10. So the most which you can ever get back is 10% more than you pay in. And all fed funding is education, food stamps and healthcare first. Roads and bridges? last.

It would be so awesome to tell the red states to just go pray for help.

Same here.

And to be fair, Jay Nixon is the one guy who is stopping Missouri from turning into Kansas since he isn't rubber-stamping every half-baked idea that comes out of the MO Legislature.

And there are quite a few of those.

He is a moderate and pretty bland but it could've been worse. We could've had a governor who would treat the state like a business like Dave Spence promised he would. It's also worth noting that the one way a Democrat can win in this state is by being a moderate, even McCaskill had to distance herself from other Democrats.

I blame a lot of this on our state Democratic Party who doesn't even bother to try to reach anyone who isn't in St. Louis, Kansas City, or Columbia.

I peg you as either under 20 or over 50. So there's a chance you might recall before gov't got involved with healthcare. When doctors actually went to your house and it didn't take you years to pay off a hospital bill.
