craigzy: Inchoate: "You end up using your hands one two many times"? ...and then what happens, you sign Semin to a contract?

good effort

try the veal, kiss your waitress

Crosby reminds me of a guy on my soccer team. He's so skilled that he's clearly a little above everyone on the field. He gets very into the game, so much that he occasionally loses his cool with refs/players and does something petulant. But to his team members, he is ceaselessly encouraging, unselfish, and dedicated. Anyone who pays close attention to the Penguins can see the latter perspective. I can understand why Crosby sometimes frustrates people, though.

craigzy: whos got money on how long it takes roenick to roundhouse milbury in the face?

I'd much rather JR smack Milbury with Milbury's own shoe.

Seriously NBC, the Islanders don't play in Manhattan. I'm sure there's some aerial shots of Jones Beach or something that you could take.

/I know they're going to play in Brooklyn in a couple of years

Donnchadha: PowerSlacker: Have the Isles ripped the captaincy from Streit yet?

Are you asking if they've kicked Streit...

*sunglasses*

... to the curb?

LMAO, for real.  I had no idea I had lobbed up such a softball there.

Recoil Therapy: ytterbium: I remember that all too vividly, are you all healed up now?

I wish, thanks for asking though.  When I got out of the hospital the hole in my leg was roughly the diameter of a dinner plate.  Today it has closed up to be roughly a saucer sized plate.  So there is measurable progress but it is incredibly slow (which is understandable as my body pretty much has to rebuild everything from the muscle layer on up).  I think the doc said that the healing progress is roughly a 1mm reduction every two weeks or about a 3cm reduction in size every year.  That's actually pretty accurate in how fast it's going (it was 2011 not 2010 for those keeping score).  So it sucks & affects everything else that I do, but it's the hand I was dealt so I play it as best I can.

That said though I'm very thankful that it is what it was as it could have been a WHOLE lot worse.  My doc said that if I had waited one more day before going in I would have lost the leg, 3 more days & I'd probably have died.  I went to see him 3 days after noticing the first (minor) symptom.  It is scary just how fast this goes from meh to life threatening in a matter of a couple of days.  But I make the best of it & do what I can.  When you can only do so much you really figure out just what is important & what is just window dressing.

However enough of that, there's hockey going on, sad as it may be to those rooting for the Isles.

/EIP if you're interested/want to know more
//don't want to threadjack too much

my gfs sis had bad headaches and a sore neck which she associated with being a CPA during tax-time.  she finally went to the doc, it turns out its a tumor on the base of her skull.  neurologist said if she waited another month she wouldve been christopher reeved.  luckily, its benign, and her surgery is friday, but it really is amazing how fast these things can sneak up.

good luck with your recovery

Pituophis: Donnchadha: And Kunitz. He was a journeyman average player before being on Crosby's wing.

Noooooooo. He had a 50 and a 60 point season in Anaheim, IIRC. In fact, I think he averaged over 40pts per year with the Ducks. And they were the team that drafted him, so not much of a journeyman.

But Crosby has made him even better, no doubt.

With your later correction, this is pretty much correct.  He spent a couple of years here in Cincinnati with the Baby Ducks (AHL) before moving onto the big club where he set rookie records for # of points.  Other than a couple of weeks with Atlanta before bouncing back to Anaheim doing the waiver dance, he's only been with the Ducks & Penguins so certainly not a journeyman.

As much as I don't particularly like the Penguins, I'm glad that Chris is on the line with Crosby.  They work well together & each makes the other better (Chris benefiting much more than Syd of course...)

Co-sign. Though for Islanders-based reasons I'd rather it be Luongo or Chara.

Malacon: All the complaining to refs, the temper tantrums, the post whistle jabs, third-man-in for fights, punches from behind etc detract from him as being a great player.

No, they don't.

He gets mentioned in the same breath as Gretzkty and won a Cup by age 22. Among scoring leaders every year, when he's healthy, and led the league this year while he was still injured for quite some time.

Did he make mistakes as a new NHLer? Sure he did, but to say that any of that garbage detracts from the best NHL superstar in a generation? No, that's dumb.

Trading Chara away was the best move Milbury ever made as coach of the Bruins.

Not nearly as much as you think. Regardless of what happened on the ice he didn't run his mouth to the press. He won the Lady Byng a few times too, iirc

Can't say that I approve of Okposo kicking his skate back like that to keep separation between him and the trailing penguin. Dangerous move in a lot of ways.

It probably is. I'm at work and I know when I watch Netflix on the weekends I see the quality jump all over the place. The corporate network gets the lowest priority...

Yes, murder is repositioning after a shot and getting caught initially on the leg of a player to cause a high stick which hit the chin. Sorry, Gretzky had penalties as any player did, but Crosby has played dirty and whined, which has fortunately settled as he continues to play.
