Yeah that's why Jews are the number 2 or 3 victim of Hate Crimes in America right after African-Americans and neck-and-neck with the LGBT community.

Uhh, no.  Not according to the FBI at least.

Yes, I suppose bringing reality into an Israel thread can be predictable coming from me.

IamAwake: They hate everyone, themselves included. So do the rest of the people on the planet.

See, that's just the thing- all of the hatreds you mentioned are more or less PASSIVE forms of hatred.  Passively, pretty much everyone hates pretty much everyone else, for any possible reason they can find.  Passive hatred is still shiatty, toxic, evil hatred, but it's not as dangerous as ACTIVE hatred.  Active hatred is what makes you go out and drag a black guy behind your pickup truck, or beat a homosexual and tie him to a fence, or torch a synagogue.  Fortunately, most folks (Americans, anyways) are just too damn lazy and selfish to actively hate anyone.

Maybe it's different in Europe, I dunno.  But if there were more active hatred there than passive, I think we'd see a lot more violent crimes against minorities than we see here.

radarlove: stryed: Most people don't hate in such a generalised manner but then again I might be fluffy inside.

No, you're absolutely right.  Most people are so utterly myopic and self-involved that they only really hate things and individuals that they feel have slighted them personally.  There's a lot of faux hatred and outrage that goes around but that's just the crap that people have been indoctrinated with and do (a) to fit in and (b) because it feels good.

But that really nasty, murderous, blinding hatred?  Yeah- people are mostly too selfish and lazy these days to actively hate large swaths of social groups.  On the rare occasion that someone displays that level of zeal and forest-for-the-trees hateful thinking, we appropriately label them extremists.

I do think that when "shiat hits the fan" people tend to regroup, they easily become blinded and willfully follow anything that might give them an increased sense of security..scary thought but I believe it's within us all (whichever 'group" we fall into).  Once it's down from the national arena to the family, it becomes personal and you may prepare your bow and arrows!

As for extremists, all they need is a sense of purpose and they reside not only in rural areas of Afghanistan, but in governments across the world. So the best we can do as citizens is oppose any aggression. Turning the other cheek might be the right PC thing to do at the National level but then again I'm French :P

Yep. Especially since you don't know for a fact that's what happened. You just think it's your right to strike anywhere you deem might possibly at some point become a threat to the Homeland.

You're no better than a Republican.

Anyone is Israel's position would do the same things. This has nothing to do with religion or racism or any of that bullshiat. This is simple power politics. "The strong do as they can and the weak suffer what they must." This has been true for at least 2500 years, and it ain't changin' any time soon.

Techhell: Was it Anderson Cooper or Wolf Blitzer reporting on Ted Turner? If it's Cooper, I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt. If it's Blitzer, I'm going to have to wait for the follow up report "I checked with Dr. Sanjay Gupta and yes, the initial report of five extra penii was inaccurate; the source was simply shaking Mr. Turner's hand and noticed he had fingers."

Being Ted Turner, you sure he wasn't shaking his hand and noticed he had penii?

No reason for asking really, just curious.

Grew up all over North America, then spent a lot of the last decade going back and forth, moved permanently two years ago and now visiting relatives in NA

ThrobblefootSpectre: *facepalm*

He's actually not too far off. Again, most people hate Jews, so it's not really a surprise that most people will hate the world's only Jewish country, is it?

It has more to do with what they do rather than what they are.  Try to wrap your brain around that.

By that rationale, most people also hate Islam? If that's the case, it seems to be acceptable to you to hate an entire race based on the actions of some.

Tatsuma: spiderpaz: You are aware that those countries have purchased enough American fighter jets over the last few decades that they would pose a serious problem for Israel if not for the fact that they'd be cutting their own throats due to the American backlash right? Or are Israeli's THAT naive and arrogant to think they really don't need the US in order to continue going on like they have?

The fact that you think Dubai and Qatar and the EU and Yemen would team up to fight Israel just makes me laugh. I am laughing as I type this. Laughing and shaking my head in disbelief.

Now wait a minute. He said Dubai AND the UAE. That changes *everything.* Israel would have to ally itself with Tel Aviv to repel a threat like that.

Lets get back on topic. Lets hear when you think it would be justified for Israel to target the highly accurate missiles that were being shipped to Hezbollah? Let me guess, after one of them landed in the middle of Tel Aviv, right?

I think the world is forgetting a bit of history about the United States.  This is the nation that damn near eradicated an indigenous population on the grounds that they weren't putting the land to its' highest and best use.  It's the nation that firebombed Dresden causing somewhere around 200,000 civilian casualties, nuked Hiroshima and then nuked Nagasaki - just to prove that the first blast wasn't a fluke. (Yes, I know it was a desperate gamble and know all about the million-casualty figures for an invasion.)

Point is: Nobody in their right mind wants to piss off the USA.  I think a lot of people have been forgetting about that.  Maybe they should reconsider their stances before the US gets sick and tired of all the bullshiat and just throws down.

That would be the European powers, mainly France and Spain, that controlled everything east of present day Virginia.  Which the nascent 13 state U.S. eventually bought out or kicked out, and have been making reparations for ever since.

And yes, when same said Europeans got all genocidy and holocausty once again, we bombed the crap out of them until they cut it out.  Hopefully they won't try it yet again.

France and Spain killed the Amerindians and then got bombed by the righteous Anglo-Americans for their part in the Holocaust?

Syria knows they'd be sitting around with their charred dicks in the dirt if they tried containing both the rebels and Israel at once.
Assad looks meager and Iran takes notice and Hopalong Dinnerjacket says, "Whoa little doggies, we'll say something that sounds intimidating, we hope it'll work".
Meanwhile, reality says, "Go home, Iran. You're retarded and you're not gonna do shiat just like that idiot in North Korea".

I've pondered if RIGHT NOW the entirety of the Middle East ceased to exist if the world as a whole would be a better place.
