In other news, Baby Boomers are attention whores with Peter Pan syndrome.

I won't state my age but my favorite rockers wanted to die before they got old. And if you call me a hipster I will beat you and let you bleed on my lawn.

It's nice to be a Baby Boomers, living out your lives as teenagers, never having to grow up, consuming all the resources.

Well, now that she's divorced Kim Gordon has time on her hands.

My first thought was that the ICP orchestra was the Insane Clown Posse gone classical. Guess I don't have this hipster thing quite down yet.

If they aren't hurting anyone, who cares? I'll say that reading that reminded me of this song:

Ennuipoet: 55 is middle aged?  Someone is being a touch optimistic.

I recently read an article that described middle-age as between 35 and 64 (this one, if citation is needed).

If she were truly "hip", she would feel no pride. What do they talk about? Old bare naked lady concerts? Exotic cats?

Yes, how dare old people be something more than a life support system for kids!

ICP Orchestra

I refuse to believe this exists.

I'm sure actually hipsters just LOVE these guys. Nothing says underground like rocking out next to your dad.

Why don't these people just grow up!  They should be watching CSI Miami like the rest of us.

I'm 10 years behind them, so I'd like to think of that as still "middle-aged" rather than "old"

/ and I think Gen-X'ers were the first "Hipsters", not Boomers...
// that's not something to be proud of...

Same here age wise I just not that optimistic. And I remember the things said us Gen Xers too I believe "slacker" was the nicest term we heard.

Noooooooo. The first hipsters were the parents of the Baby Boomers. The word started as "hepster" as in "hep cat". It quickly became "hipster" and was applied to people who  weren't jazz musicians but lived like one anyway.

1 in 3 people born in this generation will live to 100. So, there's that.

Personally, I think it would be kind of badass to live to 100. I can already see myself on my front porch with a bottle of Makers and a slingshot.

"Hipsterism" now old, no longer ironic.

As a proto-hipster who still makes it to lots of shows, I'm getting a kick, etc.

50 is GenX?  Gahh!  Always thought we were the tail end of the Boomers.  You were babysat by Boomers and you also babysat Boomer's kids.  You are a Boomersitter.

I rode my fixed-gear bike to my favorite independent coffee shop in Wicker Park this morning. Going to the record store later for some vinyl.

And yet nobody will mistake me for a hipster.

Am I the only one who is getting tired of articles that prominently feature a picture of the writer, but no picture of the subject of the article? Shameless self-promotion at its best.

I thought it came from the style of pants that hugged the hips that gained in fashion in the 90's?

Hipsters go back at least to the 1930s, in the black hipster subculture.
