Why are we letting hoarders rescue pigs? That just seems like a recipe for disaster.

Elegy: Why are we letting hoarders rescue pigs? That just seems like a recipe for disaster.

Their "gotta catch 'em all" mentality lends them a motivation in their task that few possess.

It's a fine line between hoarder and prepper when bacon is involved.

2013-05-04 04:24:39 PM
I wonder if George Clooney was involved somehow?

I call them pork chops. Fried and smother in gravy.

I don't know about you, but even with the cute aspect, if one of those things ran onto my property, it's ending up as a sammich. A yummy yummy bacon and ham sammich, with more bacon.

"Just to know that somebody would just let them continue to graze and terrorize the neighborhood, and not do something proper about it, that's the amazing part"

Not amazing. The terrorists win swine again.

That was supposed to include this picture, which is for some reason "unfetchable".

For shame. They were going to get around to eating them eventually! Them's small cattle. Food on the hoof. Or on the divided hoof in this case, seeing as Vietnamese Pot-bellied Pigs ain't Kosher.

First they come for your pot-bellied pigs, then they come for your rifle, then they come for your Bible. Just like New York City*.

*Where they banned pigs from the streets in the 1870s. And giraffes and hippopotami from apartments more recently, say, the 1990s.

Tyranny. Sometimes it is very slow and insidious, like Fox News. Not fast, in your face and full of sex and violence, like Fox Entertainment.

I don't see how this is necessarily animal abuse. Yes, they were probably a public nuisance.  Also, there may be a fine for the owner depending on how the land was zoned. However, before pigs were pets they were wild animals that were designed to roam free.

Yup, but they're domesticated now.  I would no sooner let a domestic pig go free in the wild than I would let a wild boar roam my house.

Because People in power are Stupid: Can these be house trained?

Litterbox trained... But they are extremely social animals and NEEEEEED attention and whatnot more than any dog I have ever encountered. Probably because pigs are smarter than dogs....

I'd say that "awwww I want a pig", because they are awesome pets once housebroken, but....

1) Bacon

2) I was already married to one, and that ended up so well...

2) I was already married to one, and that ended up so well...

A man comes home later after a night of drinking, carrying a duck under his arm.  He opens the door to his bedroom, where his wife is on the bed, glaring at him angrily.  "Here's the pig I've been sleeping with," the man said.  "That's a duck," his wife snapped.  "I know," he said.  "I was talking to the duck."

Who of us isn't guilty of hoarding bacon at some point?
