Only 10?

The list could probably be "the only 10 comic book movies of the past decade worth watching" and still have a couple spots open.

No mention of The Spirit? That's just plain damn weird.

No X3?

The directors cut of Daredevil is actually pretty good. They cut a ton of stuff out of the theatrical release that would have made it make sense. Also Coolio.

My favorite thing about Catwoman is that all of the people in Halle Berry's office were wearing the same clothes two days in a row.

I thought the Green Hornet was fun.

It makes me sad that Green Lantern sucked so much because a sequel with lots of Mark Strong Sinestro goodness could have been really good.

And I am glad that Punisher: War Zone wasn't on the list because that movie is way underrated, and a way better onscreen translation of Garth Ennis than I could have ever expected.

Catwoman was a gold mine if you only focused on Halle Berry in leather and spandex.

Shut your whore mouth, stubby, Scott Pilgrim was awesome sauce!

My only complaint about the movie was that Jigsaw was too much of a ripoff of Nicholsons Joker.

"Hipster Weaboo Vs. The World" is what happens when you squeeze a Hot Topic and a Spencer Gifts together so hard that a film shoots out.

yeah. The Spirit, Jonah Hex, and Ghost Rider (1 and 2) are easily 3 (or 4) of the top 10.

I don't care what anyone else thinks- Scott Pilgrim was a great romance/nerdy comedy about youngsters!

Scott Pilgrim was a fun movie.

Darth_Lukecash: nerdy

Dropping a bunch of video game and punk rock references isn't "nerdy." It's T-shirt culture. It's bumper sticker culture.

One of my friend said "I've never read any of the Spirit comics, but after that movie I totally hate the character and want nothing to do with him"

Punk Rock are the nerds of the music scene. Video game references are nerdy.

Damn right it was. I watched the hell out of it and would do so again at the drop of an arcade token.

Also, Spider-Man 3, X3 and Jonah Hex are conspicuously absent from the list.

They were until punk rock got co-opted.

Darth_Lukecash: Video game references are nerdy.

They once were. But that was a long time ago. When you can walk into any clothing store and buy a Mario shirt, no they aren't.

I thought the  Watchmen movie was pretty good, and then nearly drowned in the spittle from ten thousand Alan Moore fans' apocalyptic rage. (A few hundred of them were Moore himself, I suspect.)

I thought the  Scott Pilgrim movie was pretty good. Hey, comic book fanbois? Bryan Lee O'Malley is okay with that. He's fine with you enjoying both.

Aside from few miscasts, Watchmen was about the best adaptation we could ever hope for.

Agreed. As much as I loathe Snyder's filmmaking style, I've got to admit he got this one right.

I

I loved the Watchmen movie. Far more faithful to the book than I could hope for! There were only a scene or two where the acting could have been better.

In fact Nite Owl came off better in the movie than the book.

My opinions on some of the films mentioned so far.

Yes, directors cut of Daredevil is pretty great, i still think Michael Clarke Duncan was an inspired casting choice.

Green Hornet could have been good, but Cameron Diaz ruined it, shes not even hot anymore, why?

Catwoman is one of the worst movies ive ever seen.

Loved Scott Pilgrim.

Watchmen was a wonderfully faithful adaptation of the source material. To a fault.

Drive Angry was a better Ghost Rider movie than either Ghost Rider movie.

The Ultimate Edition (with all the deleted scenes and combined with the Tales of the Black Freighter bits) is orgasmic.

It's farking awesome....although I have one complaint:

The director's cut should have been shown in theaters.....the extended battle scene in Vietnam was the tits.

I don't see what was so terrible about Daredevil, besides the creepy scene where he assaults Electra in the playground. The Punisher was much worse. First, they set it in Tampa instead of New York, I guess so Travolta could be near his Scientology home base. And it just generally sucked. The Dolph Lundgren one was better.

2013-05-04 02:41:50 PM
I think Green Hornet was the only one I didn't really have a problem with. I think on its own, it was pretty funny, but I can see where it probably pissed off fans of the source material.

Cyno01: Watchmen was a wonderfully faithful adaptation of the source material. To a fault.

I liked Watchmen, but it really should've been made years ago. By the time it came out, it was ridiculously dated and a little too over-the-top, even if mostly faithful to the books. Also that soundtrack was just jarring.

Pilgrim was a cute movie, of hipster movies staring Michael Bluth berometer it scores pretty low, there's much worse.

I quite enjoyed both the movie and the comic book of Scott Pilgrim.

I would point out that "Lol Videogames aren't nerdy anymore" may be true, but a lot of the videogames they referenced are from back when they WERE nerdy.

And I actually liked the change they made to the 'second power' Scott gets (after Love.) It actually somewhat pointed out the fact that Love is *not* enough to make a relationship work.

i didnt love scott pilgrim but, the special effects, art design, editing and directing made it worthwhile.

Wasn't Kick-Ass released within the past 10 years?  Because I'm pretty sure Kick-ass was released within the past 10 years.

The only thing Scott Pilgrim succeeded in was making Mary Elizabeth Winstead look less attractive,

What? It was. I'm not saying it was a good movie but it wasn't the watered down PG-13 bullshiat that was the Travolta one. And having an office in Travolta's character's building, I was an extra in that biatch. I was Guy #70 grabbing dollar bills. So  know what I'm talking about. That movie was terrible. And at the end, when he's posing atop the Skyway bridge? WTF was that? Like he sat through traffic, paid the toll, somehow climbed up the bridge and posed for....someone? Then he had to climb down and drive off. The Punisher wouldn't do that.

So much this. Bring back Thomas Jane as Frank and bring back the director and screenwriter(s) of PWZ for a perfect Punisher movie.

With the exception of the following shot - there was no redeeming scene in that movie.

Give it time, Scott Pilgrim will be acknowledged as a teen classic.

/don't remember anyone bigging up John Hughes when I was a kid.

Scott Pilgrim was a great comic book, but not that good as a movie. The problem with it was that the movie was that it tried to fit too much into a short space. It didn't have enough time to show the emotional development of Scott.
