People are in their right minds just now.  On concert night, scalpers will be getting $1000.

Most of their fans probably can't stay out that late from the nursing home.

$600 to watch a band using walkers on stage? No thanks.

I see more exposed breast at a single Stones concerts than at all other shows I've attended combined. This used to be a good thing.

Based on the number of posts here, I'd venture that FARK breathed a collective "Meh," to this

/saw them in the 70's for a whole lot less, and it was worth it back then

In 1995, when The Simpsons did a flash-forward to 2010 and a college-aged Lisa getting married, the background sight gag of a poster for the Rolling Stones still touring ("Steel Wheelchair" tour) in this decade was supposed to be a joke.

It's another way that it seems like the modern day is even weirder than we could have predicted.

Even the $85 tickets are too much to spend on the Stones.

2013-05-04 10:15:01 AM
I can't believe anybody actually pays that for Stones tickets.  I just got 4th row tickets to Cheap Trick for less than 1/10th of that price.  And it'll probably be a better show than the Stones.

i saw the stones on the bridges to babylon tour, mannheim germany, 1998 or 1999. incredible show! and i have seen 20something year olds with far less energy on stage!

i saw cheap trick at little rock's riverfest memorial day weekend 2003. very good show, fun band, but definitely not the stones

you WILL enjoy the c.t. show, but they don't compare to the stones

2013-05-04 10:24:25 AM
That price is based on what?  One dollar for each year of their accumulated ages?

Well, there's always the bat mitzvahs of the daughters of war profiteers.

$600 would buy me enough tickets to see Kid Rock and the Twisted Brown Trucker band 40 times on their present tour.

yep.  i've seen the stones 14 times, every tour at least once since '81.  no one even comes close.  cheap trick will be awesome, but they are not the Stones.  i've seen every major rock and roll band since the early 70's...for live performances, no one beats the Stones.  and, this tour, they are pulling a lot of songs out of the bag that they haven't done live in many, many years.

i think it's funny seeing the "ticket brokers" scrambling.  stubhub still has over 1500 for the show in vegas a week from today, and many other "brokers" who bought up the tickets for "re-sale" are sitting on hundreds of tickets.

God, i farking hate ticket brokers, "secondary markets"...farking scalpers.  But, they are going to take a bath this time.

that hapened to Prince just this week;  he originally announced 4 shows at Tempe's Marquee Theatre (about a 1200 seat club), early and late shwos.  ticket price?  277, PER, FACE.

it was no surprise, then, that monday he announced the late shows had been cancelled "for unforseen production related issues".

Gee.  who woulda thought people wouldn't pay 277 FREAKING DOLLARS for a show that begins at 1130PM (meaning, Prince goes on at 1215 at best) on a Tuesday and then Wednesday night?  dipshiat.

on the b.t.b. tour they were embracing the new internet possibilities, and had the fans vote for 1 special song at each show. my show was graced with an awesome performance of "LET IT BLEED"

You know what would be cool? If someone took an obsessive brain filled wit5rh rock trivia and figured out how to get trhe worst of the worst rock sell outs to play a concert for free in excahnge for giving them whatever they might REALLY want in return. I bet you coulkd get all kinds of stars to play if you made it worth their whikle in other ways than money.

We arrived there early
In time to see rehearsal
And John came out and lip-synched
His new lite beer commercial
And as the crowd arrived
As far as I could see
The faces were all different
There was no one there like me

They sat in golden circles
And waiters served them wine
And talked through all the music
And paid to John paid little mind
And way up in the nosebleeds
We watched him on the screen
They'd hung between the billboards
So cheaper seats could see

Johnny rock that golden circle
An all those VIP's
And that music that had freed us
Became a tired routine
And I saw his face in close-up
Trying to give it all he had
And sometimes his eyes betrayed him
You could see that he was sad
And I tried to rock on with him
But I slowly became bored
Could that man on stage
With everything
Somehow need some more?

There was no use in pretending
No magic left to hear
All the music gave me
Was a craving for lite beer
As I walked out of the arena
My ears began to ring
And money became king

I wouldn't mind seen the Stones in concert. But there is no way in hell I'm paying that much for a ticket, even though I can afford it.  That's insane.

If they brought The Beatles back to life somehow and added them to the bill, then maybe I'd consider shelling out $600 for the show. Otherwise, not so much.

Would love to see the Stones in Chicago, I'd even pay a hundred for a ticket, but 600 is just ridiculous; I couldn't look at myself in the mirror if I paid that.

$600!!! HaHAHAHAHA!!! NOOOOO!! The only way I would pay that much was if it bought me a time machine and took me back to an earlier show

On second thought if it did that why the hell would I see the Stones when I could see Led Zepplin or The Doors

Only their livers died...the band lives on thanks to the wonders of modern medicine. I believe they now have their livers swapped out routinely every 30,000 gallons or so.
