MAKE IT SO, NUMBER 2!

2013-05-04 07:18:05 AM
I'm not sure when this whole Star Wars Day became a "day." For years my brother and I just sort of had a running joke about who could text the cheesy pun "May the Fourth be with you" to the other first on May 4. And now it's a quasi-holiday.

Oh, well. Time to go put on my Jedi robe.

May 4th has no place for Star Wars Day where I live. Tomorrow is Liberation Day.

I prefer to celebrate Orthodox Star Wars Day on May 25th, going by the release date of the movie instead of a silly pun that gets old quickly.

I also endorse the Machete viewing order of 4, 5, 2, 3 and 6, with The Phantom Menace considered part of the Apocrypha, along with the sucky parts of the EU.

Furthermore, I highly recommend Harmy's Despecialized Editions of the Original Triology.  All three movie in their theatrical versions in HD.  For special editions, Adywan's Star Wars Revisited isn't half-bad, either.

I don't know what's worse, the fact that I own four sets of the original trilogy (VHS, DVDx2, Blu-Ray), or the fact that every farking version is different.

So, pretty much 90% of the EU then

Also, the Jedi Training Academy at Disney isn't new, the Disney parks have been doing it for years, way before the buyout. And the Academy shows are hilariously cute and awesome to watch while you're grabbing a quick bite to eat in Tomorrowland.

Hell yes.

I saw a little kid decide to join Darth Vader instead of the Jedi. I hope his Dad was as proud as I would have been.

Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: gh, Disney has holidays?

There is Gay Day, during a big festival in Orlando. The festival is a week long and Disney was getting complaints from the normals about all dem homos huggin' and stuff in the park, so now they promote a single day that corrals most of them in there on one day.

There is also Goth Day when the Happiest Place on Earth is invade by the Saddest People on Earth.

Wow everyone, we just met the person who INVENTED it years ago and celebrated it before ANYONE else knew about it!!!

Went to small cookout/party, played the XWing minis game, drank beer, and watched the despecialized versions.

We also came to the conclusion that since ewoks are completely out of place on their own planet, they were a crazy-violent species that killed off all the other cultures and wear them as tribal decoration. How else would stubby legged little teddy bears be able to build such elaborate forest dwellings?!

Does this mean that every company that prints a calender with May 4th on it now has to pay a royalty fee to Disney?

So Star Wars is now officially a hipster thing? Or since it's now official the hipsters no longer want it? I'm confused.

If you're going to post a bunch of goofy macros with non-SW sci-fi shows as the background, at least get the quote right.

The quote was from Chris Hadfield's tweet, for that full meta flavour...
