I don't think he deserves the heat for the five deaths, because excluding the ones that didn't overdose, that's likely pretty close to par. Making a show of intimate drug treatment is something else though. On one hand, thank you for shining light on the problem of addiction, on the other hand, fark you for trying to treat that illness on camera. You put someone so sick like the little pathetic biatch Jeff Conway had become at his worst on TV. Was he sane and sober when he consented?

Man, I remember staying up late at night in my early teens to listen to LoveLine on the radio.

Damn, sometimes I miss the 90's.

Call in all these D level celebrities, let 'em shake off the DT's for a couple of days, with cameras in their faces 24/7, and then they'd send 'em boating with Gary Busey, cause that's what a medical professional would tell you to do in that situation...

I used to listen to Loveline when I was a teen and I always thought Dr. Drew was a big time douche. Carolla was the only thing that made me like the show and as soon as he left I couldn't deal with Dr. Drew's douchiness being unchecked by Carolla's funny.

Wasn't Loveline the radio show with Dr. Judy which aired at like 11pm? Her cohost was rude and inconsiderate.

Kimmel is arguably the hottest thing on late night. Carolla is doing stand up and podcasts. Their paths certainly diverged after the Man Show ended. Also the guys they replaced them with were just awful.

At long last our national nightmare of exploiting celebrities with substance abuse problems is over!  Now, let me go to TMZ and find out the latest on Lindsay Lohan.

I'm what's wrong with society today and watched quite a few episodes of the show. I was appalled that he made Heidi Fleiss and her ex-boyfriend who'd spent time in jail for beating ass, Tom Sizemore, live together. That's when I was officially done with anything with the Dr Drew label.

He's a vulture. He must get google alerts for "dead celebrity" throw on a tight teeshirt and whore in front of the first camera he sees.

Rogan and Stanhope?  They're both really funny, but they should have just done a different show, and The Man Show should have just ended.

Lets blame Dr. Drew for washed up Celebrities realizing they're complete losers on TV, and decide to off themselves afterward!  Sound reasoning.  I'm glad we haven't brought the pitchforks out yet, that would just be stupid.

2013-05-04 01:14:37 PM
Drew had nothing to do with their deaths as they were trainwrecks when they came in and would have likely died anyway. At least he brought the seriousness of addiction out in the open.
If anything, the washed up hasbeens exploited him for their last gasp at relevance before the final swirl in their own cesspools.
For treatment to work addicts have to want to get clean, most of these guys just wanted publicity.

Brought out the seriousness of addiction? Like people didn't understand the seriousness of addiction after Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, John Belushi, Kurt Cobain, Chris Farley, or the dozens of other celebrities that lost their lives to it? We had to wait for this attention whoring "expert" to shed light on it?

Dr. Drew is a bottom feeder who preys on has-beens, acts like he cares about them, then jumps in front of a camera before their bodies are even cold.

Was a HUGE Carolla fan. He really made Loveline. His podcasts really were great.  Until what looks like he read the book " Atlas Shrugged" and saw all that money Dennis Miller was making then going on O'reilly and became some kind of defender of the rich, fark you I got mine, if your poor your lazy and worthless type. When he defended Trump I was like WTF Adam?? I mean hes always kinda been that way but used to make it a small part of his stuff now its front and center. But hes gained the Stossel, Fox News, right wing libertarian crowd. Good for him. I just dont listen as much as I used to.

With that said " The Hammer" is one of the best and funniest boxing movies ive ever seen. Highly recommend and a hidden gem. And when Carolla is not kissing the 1%'s ass he is incredibly funny and when he talks about cars and homebuilding its always interesting.

I don't think he deserves the heat he got for their deaths. The survival rate for addiction is supposedly worse than most cancers (and people with cancer usually don't shun treatment after finding out what they have). The celebs also were paid, received free treatment, and received followup treatment after the show  so it doesn't seem that exploitive to me. The only real misstep I see was having Sizemore and Fleiss on together but Dr. Drew wasn't involved in the casting process and they both seem to be success stories now (I saw Tom a few weeks ago at a horror convention looking healthy). There was an episode of the Adam & Drew podcast right after Mindy McCready's death which is a pretty good listen about this topic with former patients (Eric Roberts & Heidi Fleiss off the top of my head) calling in the entire show.

He's not really political on his car and home shows.  I don't listen to his main podcast, primarily because it takes them forever to get to the guest, and I don't like that Alison Rosen lady.

Last I checked, he is a board certified internist and addiction medicine specialist.

I do disagree with putting the show on air, especially in a format like reality tv. It did help turn some light on the problems of addiction, but would've been far more appropriate as a film or documentary shown well after the fact.

Haters going to hate, and addicts are going to addict. Blaming Dr. Drew is like blaming Oncologists when their patients die. These people are farked either way.

I know. My step-mother died after receiving experimental treatment for end-stage cervical cancer. It's basically all this oncologist treats, and yet like 95% of his patients die. We should string him up next.

Yeah, cause voluntarily taking a known intoxicant into your body is exactly the same thing as having a malignant tumor grow inside of your body.  And the ironic thing is, pretentous douchebags like Pinsky make their money pushing exactly that idea, so I have no problem calling them out on it.
