Johnny Cash International Airport: Please Check All Guitars For Inspection.

2013-05-04 02:37:09 AM

TomD9938: Mrtraveler01: Bentonville is a couple hundred miles away in the Northwest corner of the state next to the MO line.

Bentonville seems fairly close to Tulsa.

If I'm a vendor visiting corporate to beg for shelf space, is that where I'd fly into, as opposed to Billary Intl?

Tulsa is about 100 miles closer to Bentonville than Little Rock is, but if you are flying in to do business with Walmart, the airport halfway between Bentonville and Fayetteville gets a lot of air traffic for such a small airport.

You'd most likely fly into that one or Tulsa.

While that's now the official name, the airport still retains its ICAO airport code:  KLIT.

Baron Harkonnen: I just can't wait until George W. Bush gets something named after him.  Then, instead of laughing about having an affair with a secretary, we can all laugh about starting a war with well over 100,000 casualties that cost the US upwards of 2 trillion dollars.

Ah, the smell of butt hurt.

Benevolent Misanthrope: feckingmorons: Is it normal to name government buildings for people when they are not dead?

Yep, usually as long as they're not currently in office, and sometimes if they are.

We have the Max Baucus building here. It's the only federal building named after a sitting U.S. Senator.

Shait gets named after legislators and cabinet officials all the time.

See:

Part of my comment disappeared.

Other example wascoont0, the USS Carl Vinson, named after a Congrescritter (not even speaker of the house).

I clarified my position later in the thread.

It's the combination of the two people that is confusing. It's not like the Obama/Biden Municipal Parking Lot or the McCain/Palin School for the Kids Who Want to Read and Stuff. Politically, Hillary has very little to do with Bill.

And I'm guessing most of you apologists know why.

Neither has John Wayne.

That's kind of irrelevant. Hillary, except for a brief moment as chairperson for healthcare reform, was not involved in governance in any official capacity with Bill during his presidency.

If she were getting her own honor for her work as Sec. of State, I wouldn't be as confused. This gesture makes it seems like she's tagging along on Bill's coattails as a hanger-on. It diminishes her and her accomplishments to be lumped in with her husband for no clear reason other than being the loyal wife of the President.

Except for a brief moment, she was never involved in a sexual relationship with her husband but alas, Amy Carter still holds the title as the ugliest daughter in the white house with Chelsea a close second.

EvilRacistNaziFascist: Bad as that is, I hope you'll be equally indignant about the fact that Obama has increased the national debt by 6 trillion dollars during his time in office so far and he has another 4 years to go.

So surely you're indignant about the fact that Bush increased the debt by $5.5 trillion, or does he get a free pass because he took a few years longer?

I'm sure you're also indignant about the fact that a nice chunk of that $6 trillion occurred during Obama's first year, due to the FY 2009 budget which began in Bush's final months.

Bush left 0bama with 4.5 trillion in stimulus.  0bama took the reigns and ran like hell with it and got even more later on.

National Airport outside of DC is named after someone who sold weapons to Iran in return for money they can use to fund the Contras in Nicaragua.

The bar isn't that high.

feckingmorons: Is it normal to name government buildings for people when they are not dead?

Unfortunately, it is becoming the new normal in Amerika. In Anchorage, there is Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, named for a then-sitting US congressman. Stuff like that always raises the hair on my back, whether it's naming a public facility for a current secretary of state or for some political pork-grabber who's retired but still alive. I hope that the name Hill-Billy for the LR airport sticks.

In similar news, do you know how long it took those lazy bastards in New York City to clean up midtown after 9/11? And how much *money* they p*ssed away? Probably all Union labor, amirite? Hell, they're *still* finding airplane parts! In Texas they would have just plowed the sand over the smoking hole and gotten back to the Lord's business!

Maybe it's because they're both from Arkansas. Has anybody else from Arkansas done anything noteworthy?

/That's a serious question. I'm not from the USA.

Walmart.  Hilary started at Walmart right around the time they quit selling things in America.  This is why the Clintons signed NAFTA and gave away the farm to the Chinese.

My favorite retardation during that mess was when a Republican said that the nation's capital's airport should be named after a great American. At the time, it was Washington National Airport.
