Unfortunately, there's a pretty good chance this thread is going to be full of people coming in to say how much they hate the NBA or how much better hockey is... never understood why basketball gets no love on Fark.

Palmer Eldritch: never understood why basketball gets no love on Fark.

I love college ball and absolutely hate the NBA. I think a lot of people fall into the same category.

I think you mean Clippers-Grizzlies failmitter.

Not according to the ratings. Not sure why people would prefer the mediocre version of the game.

/hoping the Rockets force a game 7.

I called Grizzlies in the beginning, I think they close it out tonight, the Clippers are still the Clippers.

Griffin's injury is hurting them, but I'm hoping the Clippers can still make it.

Who will insult La La tonight. How about leaving your wife home Carmelo

Pacers will win against both Grizzlies and Hawks.

Do my eyes deceive me? An NBA thread? About damn time. Though my Bulls aren't active tonight, and I probably don't want my thoughts on last night's game to be recorded. Though I will say, with Deng and Hinrich not playing due to injuries/illness, Boozer and Gibson in foul trouble for awhile, and our generally lousiness, I have no idea how we still only lost by 3.

Ah, there you go. We just could not get in a rhythm. It was an ugly ugly ugly 4th quarter. I have no idea how likely Hinrich is to play in game 7, but Deng is in the ER for the flu, so that's not exactly promising.

I don't think Rose should play tomorrow. If they can't get by the Nets without him, they're not gonna get past the Heat with him.

Yeah, the Spurs are tanned, rested and ready. But, as a Warriors fan, I just have this to say- thanks for playing, Denver.

Ugh OK these two early games are not the best... but the two late games will be awesome. Unfortunately all the east coast farkers will be in bed.

Melo and JR Smith are a combined 6-17 from the field, with no 3's, and the Knicks are still up double digits. Boston is done tonight.

Yeah, I came here to see if there was a thread.   It is very odd that there is barely any NBA talk here, but, the NHL threads go for 500 posts.

And wow, the bounces on that last free throw... the Celtics are going to make this go to 7.

Well, guess I was wrong, NY got it out to 9 now with under 2 min...

but at least the Celtics made it respectable.

That was a great run from the Celtics, but it looks as if they are going to run out of time.  They did the opposite in this game, they didn't score in the 1st half.

Props to the Cs for making it a game.

Great to see Houston fans rocking again. Fun team to watch too. They remind me of the Warriors, another team I'm piggy backing on this postseason since my team sucked this year and isn't playing.

C'mon Clippers. This first half isn't encouraging but it isn't the blow out I Memphis keeps thinking it would be.

OMG, glad there is a basketball playoffs thread, would have posted earlier had I known this was here, but after that Knicks pyrrhic victory,,, I just have to keep lying down, and recovering. Most stressful game I've ever experienced personally. Still, with all that wear and tear, I totally doubt those old guys can go much further. really needed a short series, not the battle the Celtics gave em. Ah well, lets just give the East to the Heat.

Or people just won't care and the thread winds up under 100 posts.

Basketball just isn't the draw or focal point it once was, the days of the nba being the most watched sport is long gone and it probably won't change anytime soon.

Just as popular as baseball, including college it's more popular.

Yeah, hoops just can't draw in the quasi racist, unathletic, old, nerdy, and white demographics. They're too busy watching pro wrestling.

Yeah I wouldn't brag about that, at its peak they had huge numbers. Now they have improved but are still half of what they were at its peak, the nba has fallen back in ratings to be mentioned as beating mlb and there was a time that was just expected.

Lol, when was that, a couple of years in the 90s? The same sport that was on tape delay in the early 80s? Some serious revisionist history going on, I don't remember the NBA ever being more popular than the NFL and being number two is hardly doing bad.

The nba was huge in the late 80s-early 90s, I never said they were higher than the nfl but there were articles about when they would pass them.

Now, according to nielson they were 2 points ahead of the last world series, which was the lowest rated world series of in its history.

Still not sure how being number two is bad and their ratings are solid and steady with recent growth, what's the issue? Sounds like baseball is the sport that's on the decline to me.

There were articles about hockey surpassing the NBA in the same era, so much for articles.

Yes it is, thats a nice moving of the goalposts though, the argument was how fark finally had an nba playoffs thread and I merely pointed out why. I dont think mlb has ever had a playoff thread, maybe the world series, threads for sports usually suck cfb is fun because most people have some kind of attachment to the team through school or family.

Oh well, too much time spent on this.

You actually moved the goalposts because he asked why Farkers don't like hoops. Hockey has shiat ratings compared to basketball and baseball but Farkers love it. Baseball actually always has threads in the playoffs with a lot of posts. Pro wrasslin, another sport less popular than hoop in real life, is possibly bigger than hockey on he site. You moved the goalposts in the beginning with your nonsensical response.

As a Warriors fan, these playoffs have been great so far. I'm looking forward to Golden State taking on San Antonio. I don't know why the Warriors will win, but I'm trusting them to find a way. The Spurs are one of the gold standards in the Association. Beating them in the spotlight would be sweet. Like Curry's J.

Now, according to nielson they were 2 points ahead of the last world series, which was the lowest rated world series of in its history.

in 1996, the NBA finals had a rating of 18.7, and the world series had a rating of 17.4.  Which was less than difference of 2.  In 1995, the world series had an average rating of 19.5, which is higher than any jordan finals.

In 2012, the NBA had a rating of 10.1, and the world series was at 7.6.

So it just seems like sports are less popular on TV, except the giant monument to commercialism known as the superbowl.

And when the Knicks get to Westchester for their next practice, I suggest having a funeral-suit bonfire. Toss whatever Spike was wearing last night on top.

Is the NBA really not that popular in the US of A? Us Aussies love it, and thanks to LeaguePass we can watch every single game. The impression i get (annecdotally anyway) is that the NBA is back to early-mid 90s global popularity. Perhaps it's even greater now with all the tech that makes it possible to follow all the games in any way we want. You Americans are missing out on a good thing it seems.

/Looking forward to the all-Australian Warriors v Spurs clash.
