we just watched the same movie,Olympus Has Fallen

No we didn't.

According to the new trailer for White House Down, it's the black President of the United States shouting, "Don't! Ever! Touch! My! Jordans!"

Seriously?  I have trouble with a review that can't even get a quote right.  It's in the friggin' trailer.  Right there.  Just below where you wrote the wrong quote.  It's not that the substance of the actual line is any better, but how hard is it to transcribe, "Get your hands off my Jordans!"?

I will not see anything with Channing Tatum in a lead role.

That dude makes the nondescript guy from Avatar and Clash of the Titans look like 1995 era Jim Carrey.

Saw the trailer for it last night before Iron Man 3. When you have to add in comic relief to a disaster movie, you're trying to hard.

This movie will be an epic free rental from Redbox 3 months after its released

Seriously, this.

This is like a fake trailer you'd be seeing before Tropic Thunder.

That trailer looked horrible and I kinda liked Olympus Has Fallen.  I could buy the cast in that one at least.

You know... I think I got the concept. It's a buddy-cop action flick only with the President and Secret Service reject. Why didn't Micheal Bay make this?

Looks entertaining at least.  People just get so butthurt over movies...

There's bad. There offensively bad. Then there's "OMG, I have to rent that just see if that's really real" bad. The third is the kind where you invite all your friends over for pizza and try to construct a drinking game just from viewing that trailer.

Not gonna lie. I liked Magic Mike and not for the reasons you might think.

So it's die Hard with actors minus the talent and charisma. I'm in!

I'm pretty sure that had more to do with Steven Soderburgh than Channing Tatum

That can sometimes be fun.  Did that with DOOM, went to see it on IMAX for the sole purpose of mocking it out of boredom.  Ended up having a blast because of how absurd the whole thing was.  By all definitions that movie was awful, but I will still watch it if it's on because I found it to be entertaining and hilarious at points.

In the hundreds if not thousands of films I've watched, even supposed "bad movies" have some redeeming quality.  Even if that quality is unintentionally becoming a parody of itself.

Uhm, this is from the same director that brought us ID4, Day After Tomorrow, and 2012.  I wasn't expecting much to begin with.

/well, except for the white house asploding

I got to screen a good part of this movie and I gotta tell you, it sucked balls. The music was too contemporary for such a movie (imagine if they played dubstep throughout die hard) and it was just too over the top. I would not have even bothered screening this crap and answering questions were it not for free tickets in return.

The "good" bad and "bad" bad.

White House Down = bad bad.

White House Down won't be any less stupid than Olympus Has Fallen (and gods below was it stupid ... if it's that easy to take down the WH, and the response is that bad, we deserve to be conquered), but it's Roland Emmerich, so it will at least look better and be funnier.

Still, it looks like a Netflix streamer on a rainy day.

Wasn't this the plot to a season of 24?  I seem to remember Jack having to rescue the President and his daughter and his girlfriend at the White House once.

They don't care that they're not making anything of quality, they're just putting out product. As long as they keep the money machine humming. The capital building getting blowed up real good? Hell, they'll make their money back opening night in China!

Exactly what I came to say.  Reading the headline I was really hoping for something "good bad."  I'm a sucker for those types of movies.

Weird.....from watching the trailer I had it pigeon-holed as some half-rate birther dream flick.

Instead, to my surprise, it just sucks.

2013-05-03 02:19:02 PM
I'm shocked  Roland Emmerich hasn't been investigated as a turrist yet.

All of his movies seem to have the white house being blown to pieces at some point.

21 Jump Street was hilarious. This movie looks ten kinds of stupid, though

When I'd heard that Tatum and Foxx were in this, my first thought was This is a terrible spoof of Olympus Has Fallen.

Turns out I was right.

2013-05-03 02:47:12 PM
If this movie had ran into money problems during productions would we have been able to watch it on SciFi?

2013-05-03 02:49:39 PM
You know, if we applied the Scary Movie formula to the birther movement and other right wing elements we could humiliate them and get a damned funny movie in the process.

I'm not holding onto that idea because I can't use it. Feel free to develop that.

Strangly enough, it fits well.

Seriously, if someone was to launch an all-out assault on the White House, someone will notice all those inbounds.

I have both of these saved to my queue. It'll probably be a twin bill on a rainy day.

/the Jordans line is a reference to Harrison Ford's "off my plane" line, right?
//or should we give the screenwriter that much credit?

Oh man, I hate it when people come into my home and forget to take off their shoes and put on a pair of House Jordans. I'm like, "Dude. Your shoes are filthy! Don't drag in all the crap from outside. That's why all those Jordans are right there." Then it's worse when they forget they still have my House Jordans on when they leave.

Have you ever touched a black man's Jordans? That's like slapping their child.

Channing Tatum isn't believable as a father. Sorry.

I'd prefer a movie in which the President tells Congress to kiss his Converse.

...and Armageddon/Deep Impact (both 1998) and there were a few dueling Christopher Columbus movies that came out in '92.
